Anyway, VR isn't a gimmick to Vive users. It may be a gimmick to some people and some platforms, but it's definitely the future of gaming and possibly the future of social networking. I've seen AltSpace become rather popular since the Vive and Oculus came out, and it's getting support for practically every kind of VR controller there is, including Leap Motion and Oculus Touch. AltSpace has itself spread to mobile devices, too, which shows that not all VR games have to require a Vive. However, Accounting is not going to be as awesome without roomscale and roomscale controllers. It's basically a demo for what the Vive offers.
Play some subnautica on your 2d screen. 6 ft long bone shark swims by you, no big deal just alittle fright. now play on VR when that 6 ft shark swims past you gotta be kidding me your not shaken and immediately looking for land XD
VR, its a lifestyle choice.
my only hope is the resolution on the headsets can affordably be upgraded to 2k or higher. 1080p is fine for now though, most things look amazing, games like Raw Data have a good concept and graphic quality.
that said i do play in minimum space and certain titles that play better with a larger area are a bit tricky to play but i've managed so far on the bigger hit titles worth paying 30-40$ for.
Indeed, thats what you think. Untill you are holding an AK-47 in VR, you see it in 3D right in front of you that moves to the milimeter precice to the movement of your hands.
Ducking for cover physically when being shot at, reloading your weapon, not pressing R, but grabbing the empty mag out of your rifle and tossing it away, grabbing a full clip out of your ammo pouch and popping it in your weapon to then glock it,....
It's a new way of experiancing games, really being in them!
Fallout 4 is going to be supported by VR to name a thing and it is going to be frigging awesome!
Same with that VR mod that came form DOOM 3
Same with Fallout 4, Skyrim en DOOM 2016
no pushing WASD, no left clicky, no space bar, just wavey hands and measureable physics.
you can live in your world of everything VR should be made non VR too, but thats not an industry moving forward mentality, thats an amish way of looking at it.
why move your arms and upper body like you do every day to entertain yourself?
immersion.
besides these guys arent makin any kind of real money off this, its free. its a demo of their level of skill when it comes to making decent looking video games. if they did make a non VR version i'd charge money. what a wasted effort.
your right, not everyone does. its something to aspire to being able to do.
do you think when a car company makes a 500k$ its target audience is joe everybody? no.
VR is targeted to the crowd that makes a living, gets things done, and makes dosh doing it. if you dont like the fact you cannot afford VR, take a look at your life, your expenses, and see what you could cut back on for a year and total up what that saves you.
800$ for a HMD to call your own will be for about 40% of those people that complain. the other 60% are lazy do nothings feeding off free cash programs for a living, either by choice or not in which case, video games should be a last end priority.
Have you ever used Google Cardboard/Daydream/Samsung Gear? Those are all VR options under $20 that use your phone as the screen. The resolution is much, much worse and the screen isn't as smooth (60hz vs 90hz) and there aren't any controllers but it's definitely fun nonetheless
