Caesar 4

Caesar 4

Caesar III vs Caesar IV
Why do some people prefer Caesar 3 over Caesar 4 and vise versa, is this the classic case of Tomato Tomahto? Or is there a deeper layer to it? (Asking for a freind)

That's a good question. Well Caesar III is a 2D isometric game which looks 3D. It was a tougher game to play and it originally came with a full paper manual. The balance of trade was just perfect. Caesar IV seems to have added full 3D which was not a big deal at the time for those who just liked trading. Caesar IV games was not so challenging for those that managed to complete Caesar III. Tougher levels for Caesar IV have been designed by those of us who want more more more.
I like C3, Pharoah, Emperor and C4 (never liked Zeus).

They are different games, although they bear some similarities. There are some who might hold the opinion that CIII was a better "game" than C IV, in the sense of how well gameplay unfolded, although C IV is also a great deal of fun, and has a bit more content as well as a graphical upgrade. Vanilla CIII is much more difficult than CIV. But that can be fixed by downloading fan-made scenarios.

Personally, I enjoyed the whole series, even Caesar I. Caesar 2 was one of the first city builders I *really* loved playing, even more than Sim City. Given the choice between any of the Caesar series, I'd probably choose to play IV over the others myself. But it's just a matter of personal preference.
