Caesar IV fix - Windows 11?

I have read the troubleshoots, watched the youtube videos. Tried everything. Any other suggestions? C'mon, STEAM, plz don't make me request a refund on the next installment I have been waiting for on one of my all time fav games..help me out!

Firstly it may help to give a more detailed explaination of the problem that you are having. Did it install ok? Is it stuck on a particular screen etc. or is your pc crashing... More details needed. Also I did a How to fix errors for Steam version on Win10. Have you tried those 4 steps on my youtube video? (I dont have Win11).

Hello, Same here not working on windows 11 family. A file is missing to run properly the game. Any ideas ?

The missing file is D3DX98_29.DLL. What it is ?

Well I dont have Win11 but I can think of a couple of things to try.
1) Go to my fix tutorial https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=lrfeJthY6MU
and in the description is an updated link to a direct X 9.0c file. Download and install that as per the video instructions.
If that fails then Microsoft have been moving stuff around and step 2 is more of stepping to the unknown best guess.
2)
a. Click on the Windows flag
b. Type SERVICES (it should say Services or App)
c> run it and look around for DirectX version 2 (or something similar) and install it.

Try to right click and run the RegisterDLL.bat file that is in your "Steam\SteamApps\common\Caesar 4\C4" folder as Administrator.
That worked for me atleast, did not have to try to do any of the other things suggested in the linked video above.

Yup. Running windows 11. And works without problems after running that registerdll.bat file. But I did not have that missing file error someone mentioned.
Don't remember what the error message said.
It may have just have mentioned something about unspesified error.

What I did before :

1) Launch "C:\Program Files (x86)\Steam\steamapps\common\Caesar 4\C4\C4Exec.exe"
==> it automaticaly ask you to download the right version of direct X
2) Right click and run the RegisterDLL.bat file that is in your "Steam\SteamApps\common\Caesar 4\C4" folder as Administrator.
3) Launch the game with the exe in the same folder : "C:\Program Files (x86)\Steam\steamapps\common\Caesar 4\C4\CaesarIV.exe"

All good now !

I'm glad everyone else had got this to work. I've done everything-every guide I've found to do and still can't get the game to launch and when I check to see why in the crash log I get this
Exception: Requested registry access is not allowed.

If you are using win11 and have done everything above but still not able to play the game, you can try turn off the system message then the game will not keep jump out of the window.
