As far as DLC is concerned, I just got the game as well and I read that there are 5 unique areas in the base game and they each have 5 maps. So the game comes with 25 maps right off the bat. If you buy all of the DLC I read that it adds 10 maps, so 35 total.
I personally would just enjoy the base game and worry about the DLC later. I guess that doesn't really answer what the best DLC is so sorry haha, but I hope the other info helps.
Cool. :) Your advice about DLC is generally good advice - the only reason I'm asking now is because stuff is on sale for around 60% off. I'm not sure if the DLC goes on sale often. Thank you for your reply.
I've also picked up Vertex and played a few of those maps. Very exillerating! (But I only got bronze for now).
back to earth: medium difficulty, quite a few twists and turns
space exploration pack: relatively easy, a few low gravity jumps.
neptune: i haven't reached this yet, i just dipped into class4 races
vertex: very easy, high speed, not much turns. easy platinums.
mars: easy-medium difficulty.
I happen to have a PS4 pro, and just a little while after I purchased this game I found out that all 3 wipeouts are remastered on PS4 pro. I bought that and it sucked me in for hours, I enjoy it much more than Redout.
I like Redout but there are a couple of things that Wipeout seems to do so much better. For one, the graphics are brighter in Wipeout, I can see where I am going better. In redout it looks like they put a giant shade filter over the whole game, almost like playing with sunglasses on. It's an absolutely beautiful game, but the lighting confuses me. I saw a lot of others with the same complaint as well.
The other complaint, which might just be a "me" problem, is that Redout is a little too fast almost. I feel like I can't enjoy the map even at the lowest tier vehicle because it requires 100% dead focus on perfect driving or else you clip a wall.
Pushing both analogs around almost every turn is a little silly, but probably something I could get use to. And the non-existant tutorial in this game hasn't really explained much to me, which is fine, but it just increase the learning curve time.
That all said, I'll probably come back to Redout and spend time mastering it's mechanics after I complete Wipeout Omega. That game is just pure fun.
Each DLC has 5 to 10 maps, the total in Redout is 60. (72 with the boss tracks)
Vertex DLC would be the easiest DLC I think, it's 5 short tracks made for training. Neptune DLC is easier too. The hardest for a new player is probably the Sequoia part of Back to Earth DLC, which is half (5) of the tracks. Mars DLC is pretty challenging too but mostly if you try to get good scores. It also has the longest tracks on average. Space Exploration DLC has a few hard tracks for a beginner but easy overall (10).
I'm a new player too and just get all the DLCs during the last sale. There are 35 new Tracks divided between 7 new Enviroment, each one adds 5 new tracks. Plus with the Neptune DLC you get a new Team which I don't know if it worth but maybe someone with more experience can enlight us.
