Controller not working

Yesterday it was working fine, but today the game just wont recognise it, it works with other games so idk what to do about it.

I have the same issue. I'm using Xbox controller.

Your lucky you can even play this piece of ♥♥♥♥ game, it played fine the first day.

The next day I fired up the game and it just crashes with FATAL ERROR, nothing is logged in the Event Viewer either?

The game literally corrupts itself the next time you fire it up.

Sometimes steam controller settings screw up instead of making devices work. You can turn it off in Big Picture mode somewhere in the game settings (in steam, prior game launch!).
If you want to use something different than an xbox controller you have to install and run a helper like XOutput (requires ViGEmBus) or x360ce. With the former i was able to combine a HOTAS setup into one virtual (and recognized) xbox 360 pad and was able to setup every button to my liking.

I keep getting stuck on the press any button to start. I don't think it recognizes my knuckles controllers as a gamepad.

yeah i started it up with controller support off so i could play it with a controller but it would barely support it
