Virtual Warfighter

Discord server!
Just bought this game, but so far, the server list has been empty, so I've only walked around alone, getting accustomed to the controls and mechanics.

I don't know how many people actually own this game at the moment, and I couldn't find any existing Discord servers, so I decided to create one.

I'm hoping maybe it'll help getting some games going and to build a player base for this game, as it does seem to have great potential.

They need to get on the ball with updates soon because Onward is just smoking them right now with support. It will be along time before I buy this game. Just way more dedication on the other.

You do realize that they delayed the update, right? It's not a lack of support, it's a desire to make sure it works right.

Besides, the fact that the Onward developer refuses to add any kind of realism to the interactivity is a huge turn off for me, while in Virtual Warfighter, I can pull the pin of two grenades and throw them at the same time, if I wanted to.

Nice initiative Morten! We need guys like you!

We are really sorry for the lack of updates, its not because we are not working, trust me. But we have huge obstacles to climb, but its not without reward, the vo-ip is really nice and the quality of sound and latency is really good, we have some stuff left to fix for example with voice activation but its coming along nicely. Once these big features are in place we hope we can be more on schedule with our updates.

Like morten pointed out our mechanism is realistic and each new gun type need close attention to keep that, for example we wont just stick a flat texture on the back of the scope of the sniper rifle and call it the day... Stuff like this take time, im really sorry for this but hope you guys understand.

Yea, well, I want this game to succeed. Too bad these forums aren't very active. No one's joined the Discord server yet :P
All of us don't have money to spend on every VR game that comes out Morton. Trust me I want all of them to try. The PVP genre is not usually my first choice of gaming because I am beyond this type of play in my older age and the language I do not really care for either. Plus, people just are not tolerant of a mediocre or less than mediocre player so I am just turned off by pvp games most times. If you are a patience fellow and just like to have fun in the game I am glad to do a one on one battle with you. You will probably win everytime but maybe I will surprise myself. I usually do Teamspeak with my own server too but I can do discord also. It is web browser based yes?

I've only bought Hot dogs, Horseshoes and Hand grenades and Space Pirate Trainer. Other than that, I only have the free games that was bundled with the Vive; and received The Gallery as a gift.

But Virtual Warfighter is a game that's hard to pass on. Sure it's lacking content right now, but it's Early Access after all. The 25€ price tag is a bit steep for an EA, but it has the potential to become something amazing, and I'm having a blast with it already.

Discord is web based, yes. It'll run in your browser, any mobile device and on Windows as a standalone app.

Half of the games that come out on VR have potential to be something good but the one thing a lot of devs forget is that VR is not only about a simulator but making an actual full fledged game. We have a billion PVP shooter games in the regular gaming world and yet some people still want those same games in VR with no innovation, no evolution, no different theme, nothing new, etc. The same old same old stuff. So we are in a 3D environment. That is not enough to appeal to me and call it immersion. VR is suppose to take us where we can't go or allow us to do what we can't do. Not simply killing other people in VR. People do that in real life. That is nothing new nor special. But I am willing to give this a try and see if it does tickle me somewhere. I am thankful I have the opportunity to try one VR FPS and hope that the devs give me access to actual gameplay since there is no demo. :steamhappy:

This isn't just a regular game or a 3d environment in VR.

This game represents the very essence of VR. Weapons aren't just virtual props. They're physical objects with real life mechanics. This game puts the R in VR.

You need to reload your weapon as if it was a real weapon. You run out of ammo? Ask your friend to throw one of his mags. Or hell, have him put the magazine in the magazine well of your gun while you're holding the gun. Or ask him to throw you his sidearm.

Hell. You can throw a grenade up in the air and hit it with your rifle like a baseball bat if you wanted to.

This is what VR is all about. The realistic interaction that you expect to just work from reality, and it does in this game.

Right now the game only has a simple death match mode, a single map, and 2 weapons and a frag grenade. But this game is under active development, and this is just the mere beginning.

Team death match and a new, more tactical minded map is coming soon. Along with the voice support.

Yeah I tried to pull out the clips and they would not remove. It was not working for me. I do understand what you are saying and am glad that they are putting more detail in this game. That is a plus and it will help them in the long run. I am getting tired of cartoony blocky triangular looking VR games. Being in an environment that looks real is what I look for in VR more than simply being in a simulator. I wish this was more of a campaign based game that had coop. That is what I am waiting for primarily and may have to wait a long time. Like I said I hope to get to try this with real people but I can't do that without the developers go ahead yes? I only have a test copy of the game.

You cannot remove a magazine by force. You have to hit the magazine catch (Press down on the right side of the touch pad on the controller the weapon is in). That'll release the magazine, allowing you to either grab it with the other hand, or let it fall to the ground.

It may get some kind of co-op in the future.

What do you mean by "I only have a test copy of the game"? You have it on Steam, no?

Yes my game is on Steam. I did try to push the trackpad to release the clips but maybe I was not doing it exactly right. I was trying everything. My weapons started acting weird as I stated so I don't think the clips were disengaging either but I will get on and try again. How do I join a server then? Are there any running? Can you start one now and I join you in a one on one?
