You do realize that they delayed the update, right? It's not a lack of support, it's a desire to make sure it works right.
Besides, the fact that the Onward developer refuses to add any kind of realism to the interactivity is a huge turn off for me, while in Virtual Warfighter, I can pull the pin of two grenades and throw them at the same time, if I wanted to.
We are really sorry for the lack of updates, its not because we are not working, trust me. But we have huge obstacles to climb, but its not without reward, the vo-ip is really nice and the quality of sound and latency is really good, we have some stuff left to fix for example with voice activation but its coming along nicely. Once these big features are in place we hope we can be more on schedule with our updates.
Like morten pointed out our mechanism is realistic and each new gun type need close attention to keep that, for example we wont just stick a flat texture on the back of the scope of the sniper rifle and call it the day... Stuff like this take time, im really sorry for this but hope you guys understand.
Yea, well, I want this game to succeed. Too bad these forums aren't very active. No one's joined the Discord server yet :P
I've only bought Hot dogs, Horseshoes and Hand grenades and Space Pirate Trainer. Other than that, I only have the free games that was bundled with the Vive; and received The Gallery as a gift.
But Virtual Warfighter is a game that's hard to pass on. Sure it's lacking content right now, but it's Early Access after all. The 25€ price tag is a bit steep for an EA, but it has the potential to become something amazing, and I'm having a blast with it already.
Discord is web based, yes. It'll run in your browser, any mobile device and on Windows as a standalone app.
This isn't just a regular game or a 3d environment in VR.
This game represents the very essence of VR. Weapons aren't just virtual props. They're physical objects with real life mechanics. This game puts the R in VR.
You need to reload your weapon as if it was a real weapon. You run out of ammo? Ask your friend to throw one of his mags. Or hell, have him put the magazine in the magazine well of your gun while you're holding the gun. Or ask him to throw you his sidearm.
Hell. You can throw a grenade up in the air and hit it with your rifle like a baseball bat if you wanted to.
This is what VR is all about. The realistic interaction that you expect to just work from reality, and it does in this game.
Right now the game only has a simple death match mode, a single map, and 2 weapons and a frag grenade. But this game is under active development, and this is just the mere beginning.
Team death match and a new, more tactical minded map is coming soon. Along with the voice support.
You cannot remove a magazine by force. You have to hit the magazine catch (Press down on the right side of the touch pad on the controller the weapon is in). That'll release the magazine, allowing you to either grab it with the other hand, or let it fall to the ground.
It may get some kind of co-op in the future.
What do you mean by "I only have a test copy of the game"? You have it on Steam, no?
Sure. If you join my Discord server we can get a game going.
Alright. I'm called MulleDK19 on there.
