Is that grab anything mod able to be subscribed to on Steam?

There is no Steam Workshop for this game - so no its not possible.

What exactly seems to be the problem with "the way others do it"?

Well, the program files where you would usually put the mod files in, are either really difficult for me to find, or just aren't there. Basically every game I've had has this same problem. Even Silent Hunter 3

So, I was hoping there was a way for me to get the mod without using the files

Just download the MSCLoader (it is the Mod Loader) - unpack the files to an empty folder and run MSCPatcher - in the new window you can choose where you want your Mod folder. Default should be the Installation folder of the game - just leave it there. Now click on Install MSC Loader and wait. When this is complete you should now have a Mods folder in the game directory.
