Rally bug

Im trying to complete the rally. Everything goes normal until i drive for a while then it tells me to drive slowly to the starting area and rally cars drive behind me. What to do?

How do you start the rally? Do you drive to the starting line and wait until the countdown is done? Or do you just drive?

once you are signed up you just pull upto the starter NPC and wait for the countdown to finish then you go.

I did exactly that but it still said before i could reach the dance pavillion "drive slowly to the starting area"

I do remember experiencing that a long time ago but over the years I have adapted my playstyle to dodge random bugs/glitches.

One of the things I do related to the rally is use the outhouse by the store to make a save that overlaps the rally start time by about 15-30 minutes. This also allows the game to trigger events proper on game load.

Unrelated and I believe not the cause are you sure you are starting from the right spot? town on saturday and strawberry farm on sunday (don't leave parking lot before rally start time though on sunday).
