How to SAVE in this game
If you want to save your progress, go to toilet in the house and look into bowl. You can also save similar way at outhouses located throughout the map.

You can go to any toilet on the map and save! (also at the wooden toilets like behind the shop or behind the repair garage

Unless I am horribly mistaken, I believe the point is that the game is supposed to be played in permadeath mode. the urgency of needing to survive will hone your survival skills in knowing when and where to buy food, knowing when to bathe, urinate, sleep. all things you should be able to do easily in real life

It is supposed to be on Perma-Death; if you want the achievements to-date.

I have a save with over 2 months in-game time or something along those lines, with Perma-Death enabled. You just backup your save as you go, very simple.

If you are making YT videos or Streaming it though; then you probably want Perma-Death off though. Because then if you do die, you don't have to ruin a live-stream with the copy old save back again BS. Nor sure YT non-live you could edit all that out.

But for streaming, its best off. Cause then if you die, you just get spawned back at Home again, not a huge "stream breaker"

How do you actually LOAD the game save, after you're dead, the game screen only offers
1, New Game.
2, Credits.
or 3, Quit ???
Where are you guys getting the option to LOAD from a past game save?
----------------
Defining the problems as I see them..
I (and everyone else who plays this), should know you save by going to the toilet, that's not what I'm asking.. ;-)

Also - I and nearly everyone else can find their save location - (You just have to allow hidden files to be seeable - which is usually an admin access level tesk) - once you can see the files your game save is at...(file path is below) ;-)

BTW for everyone its actually at :-
C: Users/ (then your user name whatever it is on your PC) / AppData / LocalLow / Amistech / My Summer Car /

With finding this file location - the problems are that:-...
Most people are having the greatest difficulty at the point where they don't understand that they need to look for their OWN USER NAME..

Next - people get lost because they cannot actually SEE the AppData folder and other folders inside that - because they don't understand how to UN-HIDE their folders..

Lastly - I see a lot of file location paths being touted as 'LocalAllow' and its not that; - it is 'LocalLow' ---

=========
But my problem is none of that - if you would kindly please read the top 5 lines again..
Many thanks for any help..

I and others have already covered all of this many times in other threads.
Sorry that info was not actually shared within his thread.
Yes of course the save data is under AppData, as is per the usual folder structure many games have been using for years. Nothing new.

You don't have to worry about going to C:\Users\YourUserName\AppData\

Cause it is easy to get there, regardless of Folder Options set to hide folders or not.
Winkey+R
type %appdata% and click ok to go to that location.
Then find the game folder, very simple.

There is no "Continue" when you have Perma-Death enabled and then die (you set this mode on or off when you start new game). With Perma-Death ON, when you die, the game deletes your saved game.

Yes I agree with everything you said there.. - but I have the problem that I have a job of work to do and like many others who like to play this game, I am randomly called away from my PC without notice or warning, to tend to family matters or work related stuff.

1, I cannot even PAUSE this game..
2, Therefore, it means I will die because I randomly don't know how long I will be away from the PC for.

e.g. Took a phone call yesterday in real life, and was told to meet a family member urgently who needed my help.

In the Summer Car game, I was miles away from a game save point and I didn't have time to find one..

I had just done loads of stuff.. Spent ages chopping wood - and delivering it in a slow-ass tracktor, then off on three septic tankjobs and heading back for home - but unfortunately miles away from where I wanted to be and slightly lost too..

*Permadeath makes sense for the reason that only the hardened pros like yourself with time to complete the game uninterrupted can possibly do it.

Conversely; I and many others don't stand a chance to even play the game and make any headway, if we cannot at least pause the game until we can get back to it.

If they give us 'PAUSE GAME' then why not just go one step further and make a reasonable request to have a game save and load option available - where the developer can also implament the hard core element without game loading, with perhaps a higher reward for those people who can play in Permadeath mode like yourself..

Don't misunderstand me.. The game isn't 'too-hard' for people like me, the issue is that it is too time demanding in a permadeath mode..

So, yesterday - I left my game character, I fed and watered the poor guy and left him sitting in his sewage truck with nothing but the radio on. Just incase I could get back in time - There was no-chance of that in reality and all that hard work went down the pan..

I'm almost loathed to get back in to playing it again today.. There's not going to be any point - if I'm called away again.. But I love playing it - just as much as people like yourself.

Thanks for your reply.
Please tell me - where does the game give you the option to not play in permadeath mode - I just tried what you said (starting a New Game). and I see NO options to set permadeath.

All I can see is to click new game and then I get to enter my name on the driving licence - that you never see again, (I noticed that)! - Then under the license it says - 'New game will replace any existing save!' Then I can choose - BEGIN or CANCEL..

So I must be missing something.. Please help..
Aandreas 2017년 3월 8일 오후 11시 55분
Oh - my bad... I just saw / found it - sorry!

I never thought to click on the ON aparently printed on the Driving License -

Thanks - that certainly helps..
Now I can get on with my game..

In my own defense - it wasn't obvious was it?
Everything else on the Driving license is filled in for you.. So I naturally thought there was nothing else to do than to just click on BEGIN..
Bad 💀 Motha 2017년 3월 9일 오전 1시 30분
On your Driver's License; see where is says "ON" at the bottom; click that to turn Perma-Death Off.

This is best suited for those just learning the basics in this game.
With Perma-Death off, if you die, you re-spawn at your house.
However, lets say you died driving the Satsuma out on the Highway (or during a Rally Race); your vehicles will be in the game world as-is... so when you re-spawn, I sure hope you have another vehicle at your house, beside the Tractor :steamfacepalm:

Also there is a small motor boat docked at the lake next to your house. You can use this to get to the Gas Station/Shop/Bar if you need to.

Save Spots in this game are all a "toilet"; either the Bathroom toilet in your Home; or an Out-House elsewhere. Every major key point area in the game usually has one or two of those around.

However, please know that Perma-Death being on is required to unlock most achievements.
