Crankshaft falls out when adding piston
So, I have gotten most of the parts in my block, but when I go to put a piston in, it breaks off the crankshaft EVERY time. It's screwed in all the way, and it even popped off with the oil pan over the crankshaft. What do I do to keep it on while adding piston?

did you tighten all 3 main bearings?

also i think it helps to align it if you put engine backplate on.

Yes. All bolts have been tightened down and the engine backplate is on the rear, as well. Bahh can't figure this dang thing out!

What happens to the three bearings when the crankshaft falls out and can you really just pop the crankshaft back in place after that?

I don't think I have any of the bearings installed. Those are the little rusty looking U shaped pieces, yes? Maybe that is my problem, then
