Look setting called range selector and bind it.

How do you use the range selector? When I press R the rpm meter will just jump up and down.

You use it by pressing R, if RPM goes up you are on low range and down you are in high range, in low your max speed is 40kmh and in high, well, you figure it out...

So when I press R and the rpm goes up, do I just change to the next gear?

In first gear, start in low range. Then, when you get to redline, instead of changing gear, change to normal range. The yellow L should go off and the RPM should drop. Now, drive like normal.

It starts in low gear so hit R and it'll shift to high gear.

Ade, range gearboxes work like this:

Low 1 to 6 = gear 1 to 6
High 1 to 6 = gear 7 to 12

So if you're in Low 6 and need to shift up, you need to go to High 1 next, and then high 2, etc.
If you're using keyboard and sequential, that's a bit of a hassle, so:

When the truck is empty, you can easily drive using just the High range.
And when it's full, try starting in Low 3 and then going to High 1.

Snake, most trucks have splitter gearboxes over here as well. Range is not very common.

And then there's Scania. They use range AND split.

No. If in Low 6 you can hit R and shift to High 6. All depends on the load, and the road.
Normally you would go for L6 - H3/4. It works for most time with full load to. (Unless going up the steepest of hills)
