Overheating & coolant spraying
My car overheats and I notice a liquid spurting out to the sky from the hood, looks white as if it's coolant but I'm not sure, the radiator works a lot.

any idea how to fix this? :)

did you install all radiator hoses?

All 3 are installed, yes.

Mine does that too sometimes, cant work out why, everything in regards to hoses and waterpump is tightened properly, im thinking the radiator can get damaged from crashes?

My guess that it runs too lean. Too much Air makes it burn hotter.

Try and adjust AF on your carb. If it's the same like it was on the leaked then it's called the "idle screw"

I doubt that running too lean is the reason for leaking and overheating.
FG70 Oct 26, 2016 @ 5:47am
Yea well, you doubting it doesn't make it less true. Running lean means more heat, which can cause overheating, which in turn causes pressure to build up, which can result in coolant spraying everywhere.

As for fixing it, usually screwing in means leaner, screwing out means richer.

In the leaked version the exhaust smoke also changed to give you an idea if it's rich or lean. So you can also check that (floor it and check smoke, or pull on the throttle from the carb).
Or you can buy the handy gauge that shows Air Fuel Ratio to really make sure.

I've tried tightening it really hard (like 30 scroll downs) and really loose, both kept it heating

how do you think I should go about this? and thanks a lot for the help, I appreciate it

PS: tightening it made it do the cliche "gun sound" when I tried that, I doubt that's normal

Like i said check the smoke, i might be wrong on this but if it's white it's lean and if it's dark it's rich. (IRL white usually coolant, but in game it means lean)

Keep messing with it until there is only a faint transparent smoke coming out.
Don't count the turns, just keep going until there is no white or black smoke.
So if it's white you loosen it, if it's black your tighten it.

EDIT: Also save the game and load it again first, then start the engine and wait for it to warm up. Then start messing with it

I appreciate that, I'll let you know what's up with it

I would think if it was too lean it would be spitting and coughing and stalling but I'll give it a try

Mostly fixed it for me, thank you

This would be easier if you used the fuel mixture gauge I would think. When my car is hot I'm running at around 12.8 and I started to overheat on the way home from my cars first gas filling. Does anyone know what the best fuel mixture on the gauge is that can prevent overheating?
What's the best way of getting the car to drive straight? If I brought it into the repair garage would he fix that and does anyone know what he can fix?

Everybody with heat issues needs to also remember that no matter how you tune the carb, you can't drive the car like a race car with the stock radiator.

Until you buy and install the racing radiator, driving the car above 5-6k rpms is going to eventually overheat the car no matter how you tune it. The original radiator is made for grabbing groceries, not speed.

Once you get the racing radiator, you can tune to a about 15.0-15.6 with no overheating issues, even while redlining, but getting closer to 16 is kind of risky.

At 16 the car backfires I just got the new rad and it looks like it's still going to overheat until you shift into 3rd. I guess I may need to install the rpm gauge. I use the clock right now I usually shift when I see it going to te point of too hot I wonder if it will still overheat if I don 't shift I blew it after installing the new rad because I forgot to refill it. :)

AS an update on my last post my car will still overheat even in 3rd I went to see how fast I could drive with the racing exhaust twin carb and new radiator and I started overheating probably after an hour in game time maybe more I took it out to the airport drag strip did a couple laps and a little sightseeing then on the way to the gas/pub station to refill she overheated forcing me to pull over and letting her cool there has to be another issue that causes overheating.
