Water Pump
I cannot fit on the water pump at all. I don't know what I'm missing. The crankshaft, camshaft, and alternator are all on.

i am having the same issue. i built an engine and worked as a mechanic in real life. i know how to install a water pump......

timing cover before the pump

i cant fit the timing cover either. do i have to take some stuff off? i've tried with the crank pulley both off and on, and couldnt put either the timing cover OR the water pump. alternator is adjusted all the way out.

ok guys. oil pan has to be OFF to install timing cover. i had wondered if that would be the case. however, in a real car, you can usually install the timing cover with the front two bolts out of the oil pan. and in some cases, the oil pan gasket has a separate small gasket for between the pan and the timing cover. my bad!

i have my engine in the car now. when you get stuck, try saving/loading. it's already worked for me a few times some wonky stuff happened.

how did you get the pump on the block? i'm struggling with that. i've tried with and without oil pan and timing belt cover.

You need to have the timing cover on before putting the water pump on. I'm not at my computer right now but I believe to get the timing cover in you need to have at least the crankshaft pulley unscrewed

can confirm, cannot fit cover if pulley is fitted!

be sure to have the camshaft screwed on , easy to find out or not, just take the camshaft gear of and see if the two bolts are in or not

thats not your fault :) If anything, you should contact toplessgear and tell them that the engine is inaccurately assembled.
