TOP TIP: Don't answer the phone during a thunderstorm
So basically I got a call during a thunderstorm so I went to pick up the phone and died... But I did an achievement so I guess it was worth it.

If you are far enough it dosen't kill you.

What do you mean by far enough like far enough into the game such as built car then answering phone during thunderstorm doesn't kill you anymore?

Far enough as in how close your character is standing to the phone when you answer it.

Though I'm not 100% sure if that actually works. May just be random luck. So don't take my word on it.

This game makes it really obvious who was born after mobile phones became more common than land lines

I know that answering a wired telephone that is connected to and powered by telephone lines in a thunderstorm carries a possibility of electrocution. And yes I did grow up with wired telephones, It is also very uncommon for this to happen and don't know of anyone that has been killed by answering a wired telephone in a thunderstorm.

I just know I would be annoyed to have spent hours building the car only to die from answering the phone in a thunderstorm.

actually, this is almost impossible in most places because there is a ground strap that will sink the lightning to ground.

Being killed by talking on a phone /landline) in thunderstorm is rare, to put it midly. Sure, it *can* happen, but so can getting your head blown off talking on a mobilephone when the battery explodes :P

But, serioulsy. I've seen lightning come out of the phone in near direct hits.
Also happend when i was in the fusebox and lightning stroke.. Damn what a bang and rush :P

Yes, i just wanted to mention that. When you can recognize it then it's no need to unplug phone.
