I've got my carbies turned to about 15 when they are hot - i'm toying with ratios now - I figure that 3.9 would give a good top speed? The stock tuning has way to much torque for the little car and spins the wheels in first and second before it reaches redline. Havent put my new tires on yet either
heilarious performance
takes a lot of gas though

All performance parts. Carbs set to 14.5 now but I'm still playing with them. Race slicks. 3.7 final. She's quick, I am only limited by my ability to drive it with a mouse and keyboard.
I don't know what ratio actually produces most power in game, but doing it this way my car has at least felt quite powerful throughout the sprint race. If you idle at mid 14s you'll definitely be too lean and lose power after you've been pushing the engine hard for a while.
As far as gears go, I'm considering testing a shorter gearbox for the sprint race. So far though I haven't minded the stock one, and it's what I'm used to on the course at this point.

One more thing, I did achieve 200+ km/h with the 3.7 final drive. It's a good test of whether you did everything correctly (once you have all performance parts) because your car basically has to be at full power to accelerate in 4th with that gear ratio. I ended up switching the gearbox back to stock because that's what I'm used to.
If you do get a controller, or for anyone trying to use one I recommend leaving steering assist on but having both parameters (high speed steering rate and steering nonlinearity) at 000. It smooths inputs a bit but doesn't delay them, higher values for those settings delay your inputs. I like 0 deadzone as well.
Edit: And yeah in the meantime you've probably got your carb tuned just fine, unless you're going for top speed on the highway maybe. It could overheat before you get there.
