HOW TO: Install That Dreaded Exhaust Pipe

Okay, so if you're like a lot of us playing this game, the exhaust pipe and/or muffler is giving you one hell of a time. For some of you, it worked on the first try. For others, they click to attach it, and it falls off. Pick it up again, try to attach, and it falls off again. I just spent probably about an hour trying to get the damn checkmark to come back up after that, no luck.

First off, use the trench/pit in the garage. Pull your car in if it's running, or push it in if it isn't. Alternatively, you can use the jack or tractor to lift the back of the car up (or flip the car over) but make sure there is enough room to crouch under the car. If you're lucky, you can also get it from the side of the car with the car on the ground.

Once you get the checkmark to show up (try aiming your cursor behind/next to the handbrake from under the car), hopefully the pipe/muffler stayed and didn't fall off. If it falls off, try it again. If it falls off again, chances are you won't be able to get the checkmark to come up again. It must be some kind of bug, but after it fell off twice, the checkmark would NOT come up again, and I tried for hours.

Solution: Go inside to your bathroom, save and quit. Then press Continue and reload the game. Go right back and try it again. This worked for me on the first try, excluding the part when I hit the muffler with my toolbox and it fell off. Luckily, it went right back on and stayed.

For the exhaust pipe, there are 2 bolts at the header collector/downpipe between the engine and the firewall. Then, follow the exhaust pipe to the rear of the car and thee is another close to where the emergency brake cable splits to each wheel. Then, 1 remaining bolt for the muffler, which is next to tailpipe, between the pipe and the quarter panel - the bolt goes through the hangar. THEY ARE ALL 7mm

I found easier to grab in the middle, and clip through the passanger side. Works almost every time.

idk why so many people have trouble with exhaust. I got it on first try.

Just position it correctly, grab middle, crouch and clip into left side of car... should get a checkmark next to parking brake handle. then two bolts in flange and one bolt in hanger in front of gas tank

It is really hard for me to put it on, but I have a way. MSCEditor. I also have problems with my envelope not working, so i spawn in the stuff my self.

Seems like everyone has a part or 2 that are an absolute nightmare to put in for them, and is easy for others. The exhaust isnt mine. that dreaded steering rack is. i spent 20 minutes the other day just fumbling with it, giving me only a checkmark during the crouch animation. If i was a pixel off from that sweet checkmark spot, i couldnt place it. had to be perfect.

Really the only gripe i have with the game, some parts needing pixel perfect placement in order to place parts(atleast thats how it is with me) its almost like a find waldo book mixed with a point and click adventure lol But super damn fun and addicting.

Cheers mate. It was driving me bonkers. Loosened the muffler bolt to fit the twin exhaust tips and the muffler fell off.
Tried refitting the muffler and it fell off again and wouldn't go back on again until I save/loaded.
Confirmed that it works :)
Thanks again, I was there for nearly half an hour trying to work out what the hell I was doing wrong lol.
