necro, but this shows up on google so, to take the fan belt off you need to adjust the alternator all the way to belt loose (towards the engine block). then it will let you remove the belt.
alternators still not coming out for me though, do you have to remove the rad hoses?
having to drain the coolant for a alternator change is a bit ♥♥♥♥.,
You don't have to do that.
Undo the screw in the middle of the adjustment arm. Adjust the alternator all the way towards the engine. Then remove alternator belt by right-clicking.
Next, undo the 2 alternator bolts: a 10 mm bolt below and a 7mm bolt above (at the end of the adjustment arm).
Once all that is done, you can remove the alternator by right-clicking it.
This does not work. I have done it exactly how you described and the belt comes right off while the alternator won't.
