My fish trap fell off the boat and ended up at the bottom of the lake

I'm on the experimental branch and it is at the log cabin. I don't want to use a game breaking mod.

The only way to get it back is to use the savegame editor. Doing simple things with it shouldn't break your save. Or the mentioned mod might be a possibility but using the editor is simpler.

Yes if it's lost in a deep part of the Lake, then it is lost for good without using something like MSC Editior 1.06 as a means to change the items position in the game world.

If you don't want to do it yourself, upload the save and I'll fix it for you and re-upload the saved game with only what changes you want done to address the issues at hand, as per your wishes.

But yea now can just put back in water (not too deep) near the shore line or pier.

New game and start all over. Nothing else helps, if you don't know how to use mods

Can just use MSC-Editor
Find the Fish Trap and then change its location to that of another item (such as a loose car part) that's in a safe area you can easily go grab.

It's possible that when such a problem occurs that the trap ends up back on shore or at the landfill after a save + reload anyways.

If it need "MODS" to do basic things, like dive down and grab the trap, like everybody would do in rl, then its not good.
