The same way you put them on, but use right click instead of left click.

make sure you jack the car up first

13mm spanner, undo all four wheel nuts, and as others have said, right click while in "1" (hands mode), and remove your wheel. I reccommend jacking up the car too, mine got a dent when it hit the deck!

right-clicking to remove ♥♥♥♥ took me a few minutes to figure out first time too. I find that pulling stuff off the car and just letting it drop can be detrimental to the cars body and my mental state, thus I have found if you right-click and then instantly left-click, you will remove and grab the object before it can collide with 400 other pieces and fling your car 50 feet into the air.

My best guess is that you are not paying attention to what part you are hovering over when you try to grab the wheel. Do that, and you will be successful ;)
