Modding the in game textures
Anyone else done anything particually interesting? When I got the custom paint job, I decided to go a little nuts and add in some badging on the dashboard. This lead to me getting really hooked into replacing some of the ingame items with things from MY 1995, as well as me just digging 'real world' stuff in games.

Anyway I was wondering if anyone else had done anything else like this... I've got a bunch of screeen shots in which some of the items I've done show up, but there is plenty more that I have changed that I completely forgot about. - the vans was completely redone, the pooptruck is a WIP, started 'redecorating' the house, new tires....

Looks like he mostly just colorised them. Its not that hard to do a lot of this stuff, just time consuming, so if its something that you like, you should look into it.

Fatal, What image editor are you using? GIMP? Shop?

The Wikia page is good, but could do with a lot more content being added. I mean, theres like at least three major modders here on the discussions forum alone B)

Well, start editing it. That's the beauty of a wiki. Anyone can do it.

I wouldn't count myself as qualified to edit it :d

I mean, you can't really do wrong. If you do, other people can reverse it. That's the beauty of a wiki. Anyone can edit, but anyone can also reverse, change, revise, alter, and in general, improve upon what others have done.

so i figured this out. I spent 2 hours working on the paint template just to find out erasing the dirt along the bottom of the car on the custom paint doesnt work. So i dug through the textures and found the culprit and copied over the changes I made from my custom paint and now theres no more dirt/rust along the bottom of the car. I also replaced the engine textures with the clean engine textures and the clean window textures from the wiki. Now if I can just figure out how to remove the dice. I feel like i'll be spending more time this week changing textures than actually playing the game. I'll post screenshots and the dds file to remove dirt when I get home from work. Also, theres an option in the save editor to enable window wrap (window tint) I enabled it for "purchased" and "installed" and it works and looks pretty awesome.

Open Furdice.43 mesh file with a txt editor. Delete contents. Save. Hack into assets.

Now post me a clean source on that body_metallic.tex

Edit: You can also spawn the window tint in game. It shows up as a leopard steering cover and is unusable.

does the furdice thing remove the strings too? I saw someone having an issue with that.

I didn't fix the rust issue. Just the dirt along the bottom of the cars under the doors. You can still see the blemishes where the rust was. I opened the metallic tex file just to look and I had no idea where to start lol. Maybe just a blank texture with transparency will fix it. I'll have to test when i get off work.

You can make the image all black, but then everything is shiny. Ideally it'd have all the junk around the fenders removed, but with the bottom rocker area still being not so shiny and all of the interior paint.

And no, the strings remain. Dev says he will make dice optional.

yeah i downloaded the game at work (its slow) just to pull the files and take a look. I made it a blank image and it removed the blemishes but made it hot pink and removed the shine lol. I know how to fix it but it's going to take time to redo the texture. However, this will make it so even when the car is rusty, it won't show rust.

I saw the devs post about making dice optional, I just wanna use the hack in the mean time.

edit: when i make the texture black it appears to remove the shine completely. must be more to this than I can tell.

So i did some testing and I got something close to the original body_metallic.tex, enough to test on. and somehow it breaks the body kit pieces (except the front spoiler for some weird reason) and makes them chrome, doesn't matter what color I paint them.

This screen shot from the side shows it with the default body_metallic.tex (you can also see that the dirt along the bottom of the side of the body is gone from another texture i edited)

Edit2: so I think what's happening here is a bug with reflections, it affects other things without my metallic tex mod.
Here's a screen with the default texture and reflections turned on. Notice the grille, bumper and side mirror are chrome. Also notice the obvious rust blemishes on the door.

Here's the same shot without reflections

Here's a similar shot with my metallic texture and reflections:

and the same shot without reflections.
http://steamcommunity.com/sharedfiles/filedetails/?id=804217167

not sure what to think. But it works if you turn reflections off lol

Edit 3: I fixed it! not sure how but I did it with a ♥♥♥♥♥♥ texture that I put no effort into.
Here's a link to a zip with both the metallic and rust textures

I only did the car body so some places under the hood and stuff will still have spots. I did it this lazy way because the way I did originally that would've had detailed shine left white spots all over the place and I couldn't figure out why. Doing this fixed the problem with the spots and the reflections which broke the body kit some how.

Verify files on steam. It will replace all of your modded sharedassets files.
