no, a gps would be very expensive in 1995

There's a map in the house (above the phone). Look at it, remember it. Drive around for a bit. The road "network" is not that difficult.

There is a map in your house. There is a GPS mod for those who can store about 6 bytes of memory in their brain.

Use land marks, for example the radio tower is good for getting a bearing.

If this is a point of annoyance for you, you're gonna have a bad time here

It may seem intimidating or confusing at first, but the map is really quite simple. Basically two circles, outer paved highway, and the dirt road. Just try to remember a landmark for your turn off the paved to return home, and your good. Enjoy :)

In my opinion map in My Summer Car is so easy to remember that you don't have to use GPS. Note that in 1995 GPS wasn't so popular and you couldn't buy it everywhere.

Even how it is easy to remember "WE" are terrible to deal with them. Like back in 1995 you HAD to deal with maps. But now it is GPS or a minimap with a guide line. I remember the first time I played MSC and was trying to use the dirt road instead of the highway. Why? Because I was not smart enough to figure out that was the smart way to get to Temio... But it is just fun nevertheless. Had some fun deaths on the way there the first trips to him. Why I laugh at this guys lovely nice harts of hell up there. I know the feeling. Why I love this game!

It is just like calculators. My dad and older working smart people do quite some multiplication and subtraction I just can dream to do on the fly. It is not even funny... 54x16 anyone?

After you play a bit you'll have the simple road network memorized quickly, it all goes in a loop and there are signs at most intersections to point you in the right direction.

Street navigators in 1995 were only available in OEM option packages for really premium cars. AFAIK the first consumer street navigator was Garmin Streetpilot, which was introduced in 1998. By modern standards it was quite awful; 240x160 b/w screen didn't help with UI, accuracy was crap due to Selected Availability civilian GPS degradation, maps were largely work in progress and it was also quite expensive. Aftermarket street navigators didn't start gaining traction until almost a decade after the game's time period.
