Ideal camshaft alignment
I was building up the car again, and I noticed the camshaft gear can be turned. As it turns out, this aligns the camshaft. Of course I didn't know this, and the first start of the engine was a collection of metal clanking before the engine conked out (YES I adjusted the rocker shaft). So that leads me to my question: what is the ideal camshaft alignment, and how do you know if it is properly aligned?

Pardon me. Sometimes I speak before I think. Thanks!

So the four holes in the camshaft gear give you an idea of how the camshaft is aligned?
