If this is a new game/freash start, then more then likely its your overall engine parts status. When you start a new game the engine parts you start with are in rather poor condition.
Mine also makes black smoke when first starting it up and I timed the distribitor to where it stopped "chirping". The black smoke does go away after it warms up to proper temp.
If it is still pouring out black smoke after its fully warmed up, it could be either carb adjustment or you have a really bad piston.
I put it there where I got highest rpm when idleing, not sure it's best.
Turn it clockwise until you hear that little metallic rattle, then back just one notch. Move it back and forth one notch till you are certain you are just one notch short of getting the noise, then immediately screw the distributor down.
If you go and rev the engine with the distributor loose, it will move and you will loose the setting.
