Battery rapidly discharging [SOLVED]
I know there has been a million threads about this, but none of them helped me.
I recently started a new game and finished building the Satsuma yesterday. It starts and runs but the red battery light comes on. After a while the light and the air/fuel mixture gauge go out and a few seconds later the car dies and won't turn over again. I'm assuming the battery is dead at that point, because none of the instruments work, haven't checked though
So yeah, the alternator doesn't charge the battery, but why? The alternator is new, bolted on, aligned and spinning when the engine runs, which must mean it's wired correctly (to the regulator, which is wired to the firewall connector which is wired to the positve battery terminal).
The battery is brand new (btw wtf is wrong with the batteries? I bought two new ones, put one in the car and the other one in the charger, which showed that it was already half empty and kept depleting) and bolted in.
Please help me, I'm out of my wits here. If you want to take a look for yourself, here is my save: https://drive.google.com/open?id=1p_J6qrsPPgzx8mUDelZCnT6PvhxTHqU_ , I'd appreciate it.

The round red light is illuminated when the battery doesn't get charged. This can mean a few things

- alternator broken
- alternator wire not connected
- some other wire you forgot somewhere
- engine rpm to low to charge
- alternator on it's way out.

Thanks for the quick reply! I can't imagine that the alternator is broken, like I said I just started the game. Which other wires could influence the alternator? All the other essential electrics seem to work, (except for the headlights, but I fixed them in another save and it didn't hep).
This also happens while driving, so it's not due to low rpm.

When the engine runs, does the alternator turn? Is the belt on and adjusted correctly?

There should be a wire connected to the rear of the alternator.

Also, have you purchased new parts at Fleetari or have you assembled the parts that where in the garage at the start of the game? Because those parts worn out, they will make the car run and drive for a while but not for long. It could the that it's just the alternator is broken.

EDIT:

I quickly checked your save. You need to adjust the fanbelt, see: https://my-summer-car.fandom.com/wiki/Alternator

Also, consider getting a new rockershaft in the near future, it's very bad.

But I DID adjust the alternator, why did that work for you? I'll try it again

I adjusted the fanbelt again. Loosened it until it started squeeling than tightened it one scroll and thightened the screw. The red light is still on.
I tried it the other way around, too. Loosened the belt all the way tightened it until it stoppped squeeling, fixed it in place, still nothing.

Does the light turn off when you rev the engine?

Well, technically it does, but only for the engine to run a little longer and than shutting off.
The author of this thread has indicated that this post answers the original topic.

Alright, I'm at work but I fired up the game quickly. There's a wire missing from the voltage regulator (next to the battery) to the connector that goes into the car interior

Thanks for taking the time. It's not though, there is a visble line to the firewall and I can't attach another cable to it

Well there is. I checked again to be sure, there's one wire going from the alternator to the regulator. The regulator is next to the battery. The regulator needs a wire attached to the 'main harness connector', it's the connector with the blue cable that goes inside the car.

You're right I'm sorry I mistook the cylinder on the electrics for the regulator... Thanks a lot for taking the time this was driving me insane, hope you don't get fired though :D
