what is it with so many people having no trees in their games?
why, on so many people's saves, are there no trees or tree walls at all? do they enjoy ruining the atmosphere of the game? are they just so obsessed with Beam NG? are their computers really THAT potato? what is going on?

I haven't noticed a trend of people removing their trees, but I did see the mod that does that on Racedepartment - dunno why you'd want it, all it does is make everything look barren and empty. Not to mention there's nothing to keep you from falling in the holes the treewalls normally keep you from getting at.

is this a thing?
how do you know that people don't have trees in their saves?
just screenshots from here in the Steam community hub, and yeah, the trees are there for a reason, that's why i'm so confused.

Just a guess, here. But could it be they remove them because they always crash into them and die! :steammocking:

what if they fall off of the map? lol

i don't get why anyone would remove the trees.
but i don't think its a huge problem either.

I've seen people ask if they can run it on 12 year old Pentiums. Second hand LGA 775 Boards & Core 2 quads aren't even that expensive either! Less than £20 a pop for either of them, but no-one ever bothers to check their machines for even a vague upgrade path.

I was "Forced" to use an "Old" Q6600 overclocked at 3.0Ghz for a week or 2 and the game was still very playable running at about 30fps with the Satsuma built & about 50 without it assembled.

For a £10-15 CPU it's still capable for a game like this.
(I'd say LGA 1155 is better these days though)

For older used GPU's you can pick up a Radeon 5850/70 for about £25 ish and they're fine for MSC, but a little slow and lack VRAM (1GB)

Potato (Desktops atleast) should start to stop being so common these days with quad cores and decent video cards on the used market going for cheap.

The main problem are the blatantly ♥♥♥♥♥♥♥♥ ebay listings saying "ULTRA FAST Quad Core 2.4Ghz" (Picture of ancient HP / Dell here) they hype the ♥♥♥♥ out of machines that aren't that great and don't even have video cards in them, and if they do it is usually a low end GT class video card on-par with more modern "Intel HD 4600" sometimes even worse.

The sad thing with those machines is that people that aren't well versed in PC hardware will buy them for their son or daughter expecting a 60fps gaming experience in AAA games, but will struggle to even get 30 on those GT cards at 1080p or even 720p sometimes.

As for the trees thing, I probably think it's people running the game on older or cheaper modern laptops trying to squeeze every last frame out of them. It didn't make a difference on my Q6600 machine when I tried that mod, other than making the game loose all depth and look hideous..

TLDR; Players with cheaper / low end laptops trying to squeeze FPS.

My friend has a PC with AMD Athlon 64 3200+ and a GT 210 inside it.. MSC gets terrible FPS on it at 800x600 windowed, so it was a necessity to remove them. It looks ugly in both our opinions and we're definitely going to disable that mod when we upgrade his PC hopefully soon.

(that PC has 1280MB of RAM, I'm honestly surprised it even loaded in LOL)

How the ♥♥♥♥?! On Windows 7 64x the game crashed in mere seconds with 4GB of DDR2 with the prevously mentioned Q6600 machine. (I later added another 2GB Stick)

Believe me, it works somehow :D I'll record a video some time. Although his is a brand new game without the Satsuma built, maybe you were loading an already built save?

Mine did it on both a new save and an old one.
it baffles me that some people would be willing to forgo so much for just a few FPS. i am not a wealthy person and i know what it's like to be short on cash, but i think that kind of desperate performance optimisation is ridiculous.
