No serirously it's not meant to be horrible driving stick on a 90's car is very different to todays cars.

Go on youtube and watch people driving the car in game and figure out what they are doing and why.
You revved too much and your engine exploded.
Did you change down to 1st while you had high revs? A typical symptom of this will be your car engine parts scattered all over the highway
While using the Stock Satsuma keep your revs under 3,500RPM, change down smoothly and don't go into first at high speed.
As soon as you can buy the Twin Carburetor and Racing Radiator, you should comfortably get your car to 7,500 RPM then. You still have to be careful when changing down.
