You can survive until next morning with the one sausage that's in the kitchen at the start, but I'd just visit the shop first if you're a beginner. Get a couple of cans of mosquito spray, the fan belt and lots of sausage. I usually just start on the car first though, getting it on its wheels (takes maybe 15 minutes to do the suspension and steering parts plus wheels) before sleeping and then going to the shop. Just play a while and you'll find what works best for you.

I just went to the shop, bought said items and crashed about 300 yards from home and died! it wasnt even a bad crash, just a dip in the road. Annoying or what

Yeah, there's two spots on the home road that can kill you if you drive too fast. Take note of them and always, ALWAYS, slow down. Even if you normally blast down it at 100 km/h elsewhere. The official speed limit of 40 seems to be safe, 60 can be iffy.

I always go to store first day of a new game.

I take both jerry cans for gas with me.
I also fill out the order form to order the fuel/air guage and the 3 gauge cluster. This way the order will be ready to pickup before, or by the time, I get the car built. Having those gauges is great help for initial test n tune.

Whats the quickest way to the store? Is it by car or can you take boat across the lake maybe?

I am not sure. I have only taken the boat once, it seemed very slow.

You can take the boat but you'll need to walk a bit from your house to the boat and then from the town pier to the shop and carry the items back to the boat from the shop. If you don't mind a slightly cheaty way to get around quickly with the van, drive along the shore of the lake (going clockwise around it will take you to the town in a few minutes)

The slowest method I've found is the boat. It takes 6 minutes for the boat to go from the house to the store. Fastest is taking the van underwater, but that's dangerous and will be fixed soon. You can drive around the lake in the van and that takes like 4 minutes at top speed.
