Inspection problem: Exhaust systems

Is it okay to have racing exhaust with steel headers? I can't seem to put normal exhaust with steel headers. If I try to take it to the inspection guy he will constantly mark me for having the exhaust systems, but dosen't specify what exhaust I should undo. If I just install an default muffler will he still mark me? Thanks, and Please tell me what exhaust part he will mark me down for.

Any exhaust mod will make your car fail the inspection. Dual carb is okay, racing radiator is okay, gauges and spotted/striped/pink interiors are okay, others, not quite sure.

It is a safety and emissions inspection, of course changing any part of the emissions system will affect that inspection.

I would think that's less an inspection about emission than safety and stock performance. Neither stock nor performance had catalytic converters so it's not like you removed them, which is a moot point anyway as the car's almost certainly designed to run on leaded.

Could just be that the racing parts aren't approved parts. Like the exhaust could be a custom job, that hasn't got cert. Fine for the track - illegal on the road.
