Just wondering what the ratchet set is and what does it do and how to use it... Thanks :)

it is a new tool set that is faster at tighting bolts than the "starting" toolbox. It does the same thing as the normal toolbox and you use it the same way you use the "starting" toolbox

Honestly it's no big deal; nothing to "hype" over. I do like how it's more combat, and the orange on it is helpful for finding it should it fall out of your car and such.

oh thx

I find it not so much faster than the regular set. Not exactly worth the trouble.

I felt it wasn't faster either; however, due to the Clockwise/Counter-Clockwise switch on the Ratchet, it help to ensure you are only going one way when scrolling. With wrench its possible to assume u had the bolt in/out 100% only to realize u accidentally clicked it once the wrong way in the process... if u understand what I mean with that.

I never had an issue with speed when it comes to bolts; thanx to my mouse (G500S) has a 2-way button (clicking scroll vs free-motion scroll) so when using free-motion scroll, doing bolts was never slow for me, ever.

Overall its just good to have a secondary toolkit in the game.

That is funny because there is hard coded delay in screwing the bolts with the old spanner set. Or then the delay is just too short...

Nope; when I use my mouse's free-wheel mode for my scroll wheel; I can go through every bolt with "NASCAR pitcrew" like speeds ;-)

I can not imagine trying to use a cheap mouse in this game; the scroll modes and also the on-the-fly DPI switching all comes in handy. Not just this game but many other games, even in things like Photoshop and alike as well.

I bound mouse wheel to a keypress, which clearly shows that there's a significantly quicker maximum rotation for the ratchet wrench. Based on my experiment it should be at least about a third faster.

Toplessgun did say it's meant for speedrunners, and I think it should shave off a few minutes from the total build time.

Well I checked and the delay was indeed 0.1 seconds, so basically you CAN bolt one nut under one second with such mouse :D My bad, I need to increase the delay.

Why? All this will do is add frustration :steamfacepalm:

But yes if I leave my scroll wheel on the standard "click" mode; I can tell the Ratchet is slightly faster; its like 2-3 bolt clicks per scroll click or something like this; instead of 1 bolt click per scroll click via the Wrench

Increasing delay will add more incentive to use the ratchet set, so why not. There is already a very noticeable difference between the two, though, as I mentioned.

Then I would say just make the Ratchet faster then it is now, not make wrench slower.
As many folks do not have a mouse like I do; so the game and scroll speed should be accounted for and tested, based on the click-scroll that a majority of most mice would have.

@Toplessgun
What I was going to suggest is this though:
Would it be possible to have Bolts + Tools work like this:
When I put the correct # Size over a Bolt, not only it turns green like it does now, but have it so the hand changes to reflect the players tool hand being applied to the actual bolt. Obviously this will not always look correct, due to the actual player stance + distance to bolt in question; but the change up to the hand could further tell the player they have the correct # wrench/socket per bolt. Then also add animation for the tool hand when player is scrolling through the bollt; then the speed at which bolts can turn overall, could be further limited, based around the tool hand animation.

Also I notice that we can't 100% use Ratchet Set is a replacement; due to how this tool works in a realistic sense; for example you can not use Ratchet on bolts that would require Wrench in real-world; such as the Bolts for the Brake-Lines, since those are a Nut-Fitting; socket can not work in that scenario.

I probably add either spanner set or adjustable wrench to the ratchet set so it can be used for any job.

Yes, I do. Jus two quick securing moves after, and I'm allright.

Seems like I developed something like this with my nasty middle finger - quick strokes instead of just rolling the wheel. It is so fast I don't really notice a difference with the rachet.
