Can we please make installing parts a little less tedious?
Especially the exhaust pipe. I pretty said screw it on that that thing. It's beyond frustrating to get it lined up only to have it fall to the ground. Followed every tip on installing it still can't get it in.

Certain parts are just downright a PITA to get in. Maybe removing the falling to ground, and expanding the zone that you need to line up with would help and wouldn't affect the gameplay.

Otherwise good game just with very frustrating bits n pieces. Mainly certain parts that just a little too tedious to get to snap in place.

When car parts are too hard to install, i'd recommend saving and quitting. Reload the game and the parts should snap into place!

I've had that exact issue with the exhaust. It wouldn't snap in and if it did, it would fall off the next second.

idk why so many are having so many issues. Other than people who know absolutely nothing about cars, what parts are/do, etc. and where they go.

only prob I had was I broke the windshield installing dash...lol

I guess people are having issues because the controls are about as rough as they can be. With most parts you're trying to hold your cursor at the exact pixel at the exact distance or else it won't go on.

I was immediately considering refunding this game because it's infuriating to play, but at the same time it's kind of fun because it's so rewarding.

BUT there's absolutely no reason to keep it this artificially hard to install parts, there are so many usability and quality of life changes that could be made while still keeping the essence of the game.

Just moving around in this game is a struggle.

What he said. This game isn't a "building a car" simulator, That's what Car Mechanic is for. This game is a "developing a bond with a car by building it realistically" simulator., and it's brilliant at it. In real life, it's known as being a Driveway Mechanic. Anyone who's ever worked on a car, or anything mechanical for that matter, knows that you don't get tooltips - you spend 10 minutes rooting around in a toolbox to find a spanner that looks right, and get it wrong a dozen times until you find the right one. That parts sometimes only sit right with a rubber mallet and a pry-bar. Working on cars irl is frustrating, uncooperativre, repetitive... hell, the only thing this game is missing is having all the spanners needing to be put back in the tool box manually, so if you needed one that wasn't there anymore you had to spend an hour trying to remeber where the hell you put it. The trick of it is to not get frustrated... keep plugging away, eventually it works, and you get the unequaled joy of seeing and hearing it all work, because YOU made it work.

Maybe you are doing something wrong.
Firstly, if you simply left-click the item in-place, often times that is generally why it just falls off. Sometimes it is because of certain items being close to each other and which order you do them in. Plus if two items are going to be close to each other (like a bumper and a quarter-panel) then one of those items needs to be fully bolted down first before you add the other.

When you get the check-mark, press and hold left-click until it fully snaps into place. Hold Click -vs- Just tapping your click. Simple enough right? But yea the game does not explain that, it's something you figure out. As far as doing screws/bolts, it can be a bit of a pain the first time, not knowing where they are or that you got them all or not. But standing in a certain position and then using lean (Q) can be very helpful. A mouse with adjustable DPI on it helps too.

Not even comperable. Real life mechanics is easy af compared to pixel-hunting in the game. You don't even point to the correct place to mount some parts!

This is why the game is so great. It's so unforgiving. Games nowadays tend to try to be as simple as possible so everyone can play it. They're basically made so that they guide your hand through every step. But not in this. In this, you either try and learn by yourself over and over again, or you fock off. That's it. This is old-school gaming, people.

At first I had problems with installing some parts (exhaust) but as you learn the games "language" you'll become so much better in building.

I don't mean changing oil...

I mean like putting starter, or alternator, etc. on without a jack, laying under car in the gravel, mud, etc. when you can barely see, with limited tools you have to make do with...

that's pretty much what the game is all about; limited ability in imperfect conditions on a limited budget.

like working on a car outdoors in the elements with a few tools as opposed to on a lift, in a spaceous, well lit shop with every tool you could possibly need...

realistic vs ideal...

If everything was perfect and ideal in this game, then you probably wouldn't be living in Podunk, BFE, driving a sh!t truck for a living...lol

Its still easier to work on a real vehicle outdoors then to find the exact pixles some of the parts wants in this game.
