DO NOT pay mechanic to fix car body parts; such as doors, panels, those types...
If you repair these, they will be replaced with solid color parts, to which u'll either have to repaint yourself with spray, or pay that high $ price again for Custom Artist Paint to reload the CAR.PNG fully/properly.
To fix body damages, delete the mesh and reload the game.
Once u have paid once for Custom Artist Paint, you should have to anymore.
You can then change skins all u want by swapping out other images via the CAR.PNG
