Why won't my fan belt stop squeaking?
This is a first for mel I can't get the fan belt to stop squeaking. No matter what I do to the adjustment screw, it won't stop. Initially, I tightened it all teh way then backed off 2 clicks and no luck. I've gone so far as to remove the fan belt and alternator and going from scratch, but I still can't get it to stop! It's not a loose bolt issue, and I doubt it's too tight even on the loosest setting, but the only way I can stop it from squealing is to remove it.

Did I miss something? What would cause it to do that no matter how it's adjusted?

Adjust it; start the car, equip screw-driver, back out the bracket screw one click.
Then move the alternator to the right until squeaking stops. Then tighten that screw back.

Thank you, but I've tried that. There is no position where it won't squeal. All the way, out, all the way in, and every click in between.

Every other playthrough I've done before was a simple matter of doing exactly what you suggest. I'm just not getting the love this time though. So is there something else that would make the belt squeal?

I guess you could try max tension until it breaks then see if a new belt has the problem.

Yeah, it looks like that's what I'll be doing :/

I just swing the alternator as far out as it'll go, then back one click and tighten it down. Never had issues. There isn't really anything else implemented in the game at the moment that should make is squeal aside from being too far out.

Adjust Alternator position, only need the Flat Head.

Well, I just said "Screw it!", restarted, rebuilt, and it worked like a charm on the first try. Not sure what happened, but c'est la vie.

Haven't the same issue at moment and it's really frustrating after you spend 20 hours maxing out the car and you can't even use it...

It´s a bad waterpump or alternator, or badly adjusted fanbelt.
your alternator and/or water pump has broken, use MSCeditor to see what's broken if you have it, if not, just bring them both to Fleetari and get new ones, they're not very expensive. make sure to refill the radiator with coolant again when you've put the parts back on.

If you don't see your water pump pulley rotating then yea your water pump is broken but first make sure its not your alternator.
