Game not saving properly
Hi,
I've been experiencing some issues relating to saving. At first I had this weird bug where the game would show the tooltip "saving" and then nothing would happen. The game would not quit to menu. I believe this was caused by the "skip time by shi tting" mod because disabling it fixed the problem.
Now I came across a following issue:
I drove home from Perajarvi in the van with some groceries, packages and tyres from Fleetari's. I unpacked everything and saved the game. When I loaded it again, I noticed several things:
- my money had been reset to before I had paid for everything,
- the time went back from Tuesday to Monday (the time of the last save),
- the groceries, which I had put on the shelves, disappeared,
- some of the tires and parts were missing
- the jerrycan (which I took from the car and filled) was back in the car and empty
I'm baffled by this behaviour because as I understand, the game could maybe fail to save the item data due to some file permissions issues, but some items missing and some not seems like a very weird behaviour to me.
Has anyone experienced this kind of issue before? I've read that this might be due to some permissions issues, but everything seems to be in order.
Maybe someone experienced with the game can cast some light onto this mystery.

Some items (ones that have only one instance) are kept in defaultES2file.txt together with things like time, day of week, state of story events and player's stats. Items that can exist in multiple instances (e.g. sausages or fan belts) are kept in items.txt. If only one of those files goes to read only, you will have some items saving and some not. Stuff that you mentioned (car parts, day of week, jerrycan) are kept in defaultES2file.txt, so I'd check there. However, grocery bags should be in items.txt, so if those are affected and other items from that file are not then we're having some wierd stuff going on. Still, you can check if those files are set to read only, they're in AppData/LocalLow/Amistech/My Summer Car. It is advised to disable the steam cloud at least for a while when messing with the save files as it could restore them on game launch.

The save is the problem here genius, so reinstalling the game won't help here, because as you noticed yourself, the save stays.

Update for anyone who comes across this discussion in the future:
Recently my computer started blue screening every half an hour or so, and I've tracked down the issue to be a faulty RAM stick. I think I had one blue screen before this problem with the game, so most likely it's the RAM that had caused it.
