This is for me the adventure game GOTY of 2026. Although this year is not as incredibly packed with great adventure games I think Roots in the Sky would stand it's own with last year's best offerings.

The game cloks in at about 12h for poeple who listen to all dialogue and don't get stuck on puzzles so it may vary a bit wtih your experience and playstyle, but rest assured this is one of the very long ones and it's worth the prices just for that fact alone.

As for gameplay: there are many inventory puzzles in big locaions that require map travel to traverse intertwined with smaller one room conundrums serving as transistion between the chapters. Apart from invetory puzzles you get to read people as the secondary protagonist Alice and also solve some typical detective puzzles like filling out a form to locate a suspect or narrow down a room to investigate based on clues.

You can die in the game, but it's the immediately return where you made a mistake type of death not the old-time Sierra type which bricked a run.

The only gripe I had is that the final chapter is smaller then the preceding ones and the ending feels a bit abrupt, but it's nothing unusual for long adventure games. Comparable to the Monkey Island games or Broken Sword games in fact. It's the journey that matters more then the end result in this type of game.

This is a great follow up and a major graphical upgrade from the first title. I really enjoyed the additional humor too a few winks to the audience that were just great. I got stuck a few times due to the old P&C trap>>> aka "moon logic"<<<<.... but other than a few little annoyances-I think this is a FANTASTIC A-TIER Point and Click Adventure... Like Broken Sword with more humor and seriously EXCELLENCT voice acting. The story is great I did forget wtf happened in the first as it was a while ago but I think its fine there's enough context even you skipped that one (dont btw). To me this is a game that represent everything I love about the genre.

My only gripes are... I think the walk animation feels awkward in a few places like early when a certain area is on fire and Lars as well the player are supposed to be rushing... I also think it would be better if I could just mouse top and access the inventory instead of clicking on his bag... But these are MINOR extremely MINOR gripes...one of which being the death animation option not working is likely fixed already... I HONESTLY cant WAIT for part 3 I love these characters and think you will too.
This game IMHO is right up there with Kathy Rain 2, and Memoria as far as P&C sequels surpassing the OG game.

I give this game for 9 pairs of red gloves and out of 10. IF YOU LIKE this genre you will likely dig this...
