Assault Rigs?

This game looks a lot like an old game called Assault Rigs that launched with the PS1. It was ported to PC as well, I really enjoyed it back in the day.

I was just wondering if it was a source of inspiration perhaps? and is the gameplay actually similar? or is it just the aesthetic?

I actually have never heard of Assault Rigs so I had to look it up. I can see why you would ask as there are some definite similarities. It looks similar to Dystoria's gameplay, but Dystoria is much faster paced and has a whole different mechanic of being able to go on every surface you can see.

Assault Rigs looks like it would have been a blast back in the day, though.

I think I will definitely be picking this game up when it's released. It looks a like a really cool spin on the hover/shooter style gameplay.
