Runner3

Runner2 -vs- Runner3
Which one is better?

For me Runner 2 is better
I liked the retro levels more and there were more levels. It's seemed like a more "complete" game to me with more challenges than Runner 3.

Definitely Runner 2. It had more bang for your buck for sure. (Also much better music!)

I have very good memories from Runner 2 but i think Runner 3 is far better and the music is very cool too and it is harder (especially i dont think i will get all achievements in steam on Runner 3, i have no problem with this from Runner 2)

Runner3 is deeper. Runner2 is longer. If runner3 had more two more worlds and ramped the difficulty evenly there would probably be fewer complaints, but I like the game fine as it is.

I'm currently playing Runner3 on the Switch and am finding it stupidly difficult. I can't even seem to get basic stair jumps right. I loved Runner 2, which I played on PC with a 360 controller. This one isn't even fun.

@Marsbergen if you're falling behind the stairs, try tapping the down button while in the air - it will cause you to plummet, letting you hit the ground and start your next jump sooner.

I have both the PC and the Switch version, and stairs are harder on Switch because the controls aren't quite as responsive sometimes. Currently the stairs on 1-2 on Switch are layed out much closer together than they are on the Steam version, but I was told in a different thread that a Switch patch is awaiting certification which will make the Switch version and Steam version of 1-2 match.

Keep at it, I went back to the Switch version after playing the PC version for about 4 hours and found the stairs on Switch to be easier than I thought they were at first.

Also, you could try using a wired controller on Swtich if you have one, to make sure there is no lag in the controls. Good luck!

By wired controller do you mean a Pro Controller, or will the Joy-Con Grip plugged into the system do the job?

I found that the joy cons attached to the sides were a bit more responsive than when detached, so yes that would count as a wired controller. There are also 3rd party wired controllers that plug into the USB ports on the Dock.

I must admit too that the seeming unresponsiveness of the Switch version controls could mostly be in my imagination. I just watched some of Zebra Gamer's world 1 playthrough on youtube and he scaled the stairs in 1-2 on the first try.

The switch version seemed easier after I had played the Steam version quite a bit.

In my thread about stairs, one of the devs mentioned that when they were showing the game off at PAX they noticed the wireless controls sometimes had lag, so they switched them all to wired controls and that took care of the problem.

After finishing the game a few weeks ago, I have to admit the game didn't give me this good feeling of having bought and played a nice game, and I just wasn't sure if it's me or the game, or perhaps a mix of both.
I got Runner 2 pretty cheap not too long ago and I just remember how much fun I had with it, so buying Runner3 for a decent price and supporting the Devs was a good idea to me. I was also late to the Super Meat Boy party and when I finally got around to it I also liked playing Commander Video there, it's just a funny lil character. Oh yea, back to the point. Runner 2, in my eyes, is just so much lighthearted fun for every type of skill-level a player may have, and it's just 14,99$ + way cheaper during sales.
Idk what it was with Runner3, maybe the fewer actual worlds and levels, and instead different routes in the same worlds...Runner 2 had some type of challenge achievements, idk what those were but I remember I loved trying to get them, also the dance achievement and trying the levels in different difficulties. Whereas Runner3 has no difficulty setting (only different routes)

So yea, I just know I'd recommend friends Runner 2 over Runner3.

In retrospect I kind of agree with you. The impossible levels comined with the odd retro stages kind of leave a sour taste in my mouth that brings the whole thing down a bit. With Runner2, I enjoyed every aspect of the game completely. I still like Runner3 a lot and I'm glad the devs are experimenting and not just copy/pasting a sequel.
