"Many of us here know that for CxBx/DxBx to run on a 64bit OS we need to get rid of the FS segment and use an alternative. Well I've been trying to kinda search and replace the instructions where FS is used and I've had a bit of success. Just a bit. Why? Because the FS points to the data structure where the thread's information is stored. Turok uses at least 3 threads so if I just replace the insturctions where FS is used with a static value it won't work. So I was thinking of replacing those instructions with others that get the correct values from other places in memory, without using the FS register. I know there's a guy that managed to get this working, but I really need to discuss this with anyone that has some knowledge of the inner workings of CxBx/DxBx"
So on Windows 7 32-bit the emulator(s) will open and run ISOs. On Windows 7/8/10 64-bit, it will open and when you try to run ISOs will do nothing, get an error, or crash. The program runs, but the games don't load.
Anyways, i was thinking it would be amazing to have a TJ&E similar to that structure, 4 player co-op, everyone looks for the materials they need to reconstruct the ship to move to the next level. The enemy variety alone would make it interesting. Though in that game you fight waves of "husks" aka zombies and build forts with traps to defend and all that jazz, but i think a formula exists that's unique to the oldschool TJ&E experience if they try.
I just think it's a shame TJ&E3 didn't do so hot and a 3d third person TJ&E will probably never come to pass. But there is potential for a great game like that, i know it!
I absolutely loved 3 ! That music was so funky! I'd play the s**t out of it, if re-released on PC. What a classic.
