What's the most realistic difficulty to use
I started the game picking sauber cause i wanted to pick the worst team then move up through the seasons. But the after the australian grand pre i started getting 3rd and first alot.My difficulty im using is Normal.I'm looking for a difficulty so that a 17-20 place car will stay there and not be in first competing with Ferrari and Mercedes lol.

Always depends on how fast you are.

Some people may get realistic results with 100%, some others with 70% or 80%.

No way to recommend a specific dificulty, at least not without more info. Info like best lap time at a given track.

Still though, that'd give you your best difficulty for that track only, tracks you're less familiar with would inevitably be harder.

Really wish there was an inbuilt dificulty finder, where you get to try 2 or 3 different tracks and make 10 laps in each. Something like that would surely be interesting to those of us that can't handle max diff.

Sadly, not much help I can provide you, not even if you had lap times as an exemple, but others might.

And I'm an idiot, you said "most realistic", duh.

In that case, try 110%, most youtubers use that and it looks to be the most realistic we can get in this game.

Turn off ALL assists, set simulation in accidents, and strict corner cuts, then you find which AI dificulty suits you by comparing your lap times with your teammate( In sauber Wherlein is the faster driver)

For me it's easier to drive a race with the same car for everyone. If you have to work hard to become first.. that's your setting. This setting also works if you drive one of the slowest cars then... except when you get a safety car in a good moment.
I had 2 Podiums with Sauber because of that.

You choose the classic red bull car, all car the same. Choose a difficulty level, and do a one shot qualifing. You need to be the first and the second is to be as near as possible as you. Like 0.001 near and this will be your difficulty

Try this: https://www.reddit.com/r/F1Game/comments/6xljf2/a_useful_method_to_find_your_ideal_qualifying_and/

For me, as a keyboard player, I play on 40 (medium) for practice to get perfect for the programmes. 55 for qualifying and race. 0 for Monaco :steamhappy:

The practice programmes' pacing is still very far off compared to qualifying and race. I can qualify for top 5 easily on 55, but can't even meet 5th placing for the practice's qualifying pace on the same difficulty.

Oh and due to the Safety Car bug, I turned that off until Codemaster fixes it. Yesterday I was leading a race until the last 3 laps when the Safety Car came out. The AIs just overtake me again and again and knowing I had no chance since it's the last 3 laps, I decided to just simulate the race and ended up 4th.

I'm using Gamepad and the perfect difficulty for me is 100 (the last on Legend)

Depend on the circuit too. I'm better in Russia or Canadá and worst in Bahrein or Malasia. Or maybe is AI fault?¿
