Controller has input lag just like F1 2016.

I am just downloading 2017 now - but I can play all the others with keys but I wouldn't try if you serious about MP as you won't be competitive enough.

Keyboard is possible, traction control fully on, brakes low enough, 70% AI is feasible to drive to reach the performance level of the respective vehicle can. I drove a full 2 seasons .. with Ferrari and Mercedes so for victories ... with renault etc so place 10 :) You can also achieve all goals in training in the setting .. only the tire wear ... not .. therefor KB is too aggressive
Possible, yes, I'm playing with a keyboard. But comfortable? No.

I use a keyboard for all my racing games. Definately playable. Also the keys can be remapped if needed.

Controller is OKAY (barely) for Casual play but if you want to be competitive in MP you'll need a wheel. Just the way it is.

Caveat: I Don't have F1 2017 - yet - sale price may be just too hard to resist though. I do have a lot of hours in Shift 2 (PC), Gran Tourismo (PS) and Asseto Corsa (PC). I also have a very few hours into F1 2012 but didn't much care for it at the time I got it. Career mode didn't appeal and it was the first game I bought a wheel for and didn't really understand how to set it up correctly so 2012 never felt right.

To be honest - I don't see how you controller guys do it...

If you don't own F1 2017 how can you say it's not playable with controller?

I play using a WIRED PS4 controller through Steam. There is no input lag as some others have experienced. Steering is not going to be precise. But that is the best I have today.

Keyboard is a no. I don't like the XB1 controller for F1 series. Nor the generic ones. And yes, I have quite a few controllers in my home :steamhappy:

PS. No assist. Manual gearing. Controller is just fine.

Having played mostly with keyboard it certain is not a 'no' unless others are just saying they don't use it.

I certain can be done to answer the OP's question.

I have all the F1 series and I use the keyboard for them all and most other games too and this taking into account I also have a G27.

I didn't say it wasn't playable - I said if you want to be competive you aren't gonna do it with a controller. Period. Fact. Deal with it.

I play on controller and fell pretty competitive. Many people in AOR play on controllers and fell competitive TLR Martin plays on pad and has many track records. Veloce Limitless himself proved that in damp/light rain conditions cotroller> steering.

So maby next time before comentating, please play the game and verify your statements. Because F1 2017 (arcade game) =/= Asseto Corsa

I just started playing the game a couple days ago. I have to use a 360 controller to play and I'm getting used to it. At first I tried with no assists at all and had to find sweet spots with throttle/brakes/steering to avoid spinning out, fishtailing, sliding off the track, etc. There's more work involved but it's doable.

Right now the only assist I'm using is medium traction control and I'm slowly becoming more aggressive and faster as I spend more time on the track. The practice programs will help you out a lot.
F1 2017 is far better with a controller compared to other racing games like project cars or asetto corsa. It comes pretty close to games, that are designed for the controller like forza 7

I used keyboard until I got a wheel. Is it possible? Yes, comfortable? Not that much.
