Safety Car overtake BUG

Driving in sochi, safetycar cames out and i am on 6 postition.

Other cars overtake me, and i though WTF not with me...
so i position back and than my engineer says i must give the position back, WTF!!!!!
4 laps safetycar and i was on the last position then... ♥♥♥♥ this ♥♥♥♥.
what are they doing a whole year long?
I´m really pissed on..

The AI behaviour behind the safety car is so broken. I've have this happen three times now. Don't really want to turn the safety car off as it's an integral part of the experience speaking as an F1 fan but taking penalties for bad AI is not great.

The same Problem here. I HATE IT. It is disappointing when AI overtake you on a VSC or SC. :/

I have turned sc off because of this. Feels like AI is trying to race against me but at slower pace. It can't be too difficult to fix when formation laps work just fine.

just lean how to drive clean behind safetycar... there is no bug, never seen this.what do you expect the AI should do when you slow down to 30kmph? In reallife a car that drives at 30kmph will be overtaken by everyone... so do the AI... just drive clean, and all your "problems" will be solved...

It is a bug. It was there in 2016 too. After you reluctantly try to give the position back( which was rightfully yours anyway) so as to avoid disq more cars pass you

It's not. Just like the "DSQ bug" for "not using mandatory tires" doesn't exist either. You guys just don't know what you're doing.

Surprisingly AI knows how to drive and not overtake when doing formation lap. But behind the SC AI is just stupid. I shouldn't need to defend or learn special tricks against stupid AI to keep my position it's just ridiculous.

I see. That's not an AI issue at all. It's a different problem with the safety car itself, which is a different issue than what most people complain about. It looks like a desync, though it'd surprise me if that could happen offline at all.

Back to topic, did you notice the "catch safety car queue" message When driving right behind it? Does that not make you suspicious?

Easy explanation: Safety car is out. But it doesn't see you're right behind it. Which means you need to catch up to it, which means you're allowed to go fast. That means you were going unnecessairly slow in this Situation (or at least the game thought so because of it) which gives other cars the permission to pass you, because that's how yellow, vsc and sc situations work.

I had a situation with the Safety Car, where I was a distant second place by about 10-12 seconds when the SC came out and I saw my chance to catch up. But it seemed to turn into a no-win scenario .... if i sped up to catch the SC queue I was given a drive-thru penalty for my speed going over 'delta'. BUT if I did not go all out to catch the SC queue, but instead tried to keep the highest speed possible without the 'going too fast' warning appearing ... I was drive-thru penalized for not keeping proper distance (falling behind) from the car ahead (in 1st place). Since I had just finished my final pit stop it pretty much torpedoed that race. I re-ran the race segment (from mid-session save) several times, trying different strategies to simply avoid being penalized. From the posts I see there may be a few bugs left in the SC, so maybe it's just a wierd occurrence due to the specific track positions that time(?) I didn't know what else I could have tried. I only experienced this once so far.

Any suggestions ?

They didnt fix it in the major patch :(

I struggled in 2nd in a wet singapore, Vettel drove away like 25+ seconds. 2 Mercedes behind me, track drying up, safetycar comes out. Drove on delta, all of a sudden a message pops up i had to catch the safetycar within 30 seconds. No way i could manage that, resulting in getting a drivethrough, and another, and another warning stating i would be disqualifyed if i continued to drive like this :S At that time, the mercedes car behind me started bumping into my rear end, crashing me. Ragequitted the game at that point... Just plain silly. Struggled to keep my position for 60% of the race, than getting destroyed by a buggy sc :(
