AI Practice/Qualifying Times are Simulated Times and are too Fast
I'm sure you guys have noticed, but the AI is WAY faster than they should be in qualifying and practice. And I believe I have found out why. Even when I know I went faster than a car on track (I followed them and was closer by the end of the lap), their times ended up being much quicker. This is because at the end of the session, it simulates times for all the drivers(unsure why it would do this) and the simulation of the times is much faster than they should be.

I know this is the case because in qualifying I ended up improving my time and beating out my teammate who was in the garage. When I crossed the line my steering wheel said "P11" but one second later on the results screen I was in P17, with my teammate having put in a ridiculously fast, and frankly, impossible time. How could he have improved his time without even being out on track?

I'm assuming the game simulates the times of the drivers so that way they don't get caught out when the session ends for the player. Why not simply make the player wait for 1 minute and spectate the AI until they finish their real laps, instead of having a simulated time that ends up BREAKING the whole point of qualifying. This isn't some tiny bug. It essentially makes qualifying useless. An F1 game with totally broken qualifying is basically a totally broken F1 game. I don't want to rant, but I haven't seen any response or acknowledgement from Codemasters that this is an issue they're aware of. Just knowing they were working on it would be enough to relax and try and enjoy what I could of the game.

Apparently, if you switch the qualifying to "One Shot Qualifying", it will fix the issue of the simulated times, but then it's not like it is in real F1, so it's a give-and-a-take.

It's been a problem for a long while in the series. Best bet is to only use the drive out option when leaving the pits and to not fast forward time.

I always drive out anyways, but what about the "return to garage" option? And it's not just an issue with the series, because in F1 2016, AI drivers had their laps scrubbed at the end of qualifying. Now, AI drivers who are out on track after you cross the line are guarenteed to beat you and everyone else, leading to situations were Mercs and Ferrari's get beat out if they weren't on track when you crossed the line. It's a way more serious bug that it was in previous games because before they just didn't let AI cars who were out on track get times at all, which is still a problem, but way less of one then them being a magical 1 second faster than is even possible in the current conditions.

Fake times for the AI have been around since 2011.

Even if that is the case, which I believe you, they were at least scaled propperly in 2016. If I set the difficulty to were my car comes in where it should in qualifying, I end up DESTROYING the AI in the race. The AI simulated times for practice and quali are way too fast for the difficulty setting. If you make the race the correct AI setting, then quali is way too fast. If you set the difficulty according to quali, the race pace of the AI is way too slow. It's a stupid problem to have.

The whole f1 2017 game is a laugh. I have steering wheel problems with tx300. I have sound problems... game crashes once a while. Ill never buy f1 2017 the day after release again. I bought f1 2016 6 months after release on a discount. Ill do that again if they can manage to get some stuff fixed. F1 2017 is a joke. And thos youtubers who gets payed to give good reviews should get a hammer on its heads !! Such a waist of my money ! Im so angry

I mean, that fixes the issues, but it's a damn shame to not have it emulate the real life structure. I do full length practice, quali, and race.
