Engine wear strategy?
I'm completely clueless on how to manage engine parts, should I completely use an engines allocated laps before switching over parts, or is alternating parts between weekends the best strategy. Same goes for gearbox.

when a part goes bast 50% you shoud consider switching it after the race. Best strategy:

Use grid penalties(5th/6th ones) on those tracks that fit you so you can move up to 4-5 from last.

In practice use those parts that have no problems but are above 50% ( a gearbox where you might have problems stuck in a gear you shoud not use that)

And 1 more thing: when you switch a gearbox before using it for 6 races you shoud order a whole new engine start from last and gain positions.

Are the AI cars subject to the same degredation and resulting penalties?

On my career: First race: Hamilton takes out vettel and he got a penalty
Second race: Verstappen collides with hamilton and vettel. Stop and go penalty...
And they do have the same tyre wear but they less mistakes

There are upgrades for each part that slow down wear by 30% which is what I'm going for at the moment.

If you go to the part selection, it tells you what excessively wears out selected part, for example running a certain fuel mode for too long or something like that.

Keep in mind that you may not be able to keep all 4 units you have alive, pretty sure that's impossible for some teams on first season.

I get rule infraction penalties. I'm wondering if anyone has noticed whether or not AI vehicle cars are receiving penalties for part replacements.

Not sure about the AI but in terms of helping with wear you want to use the more worn parts for practise sesions and try to use newer parts for Quali and the Race

Also don't rev the engine too much before shifts and don't downshift too quickly

95% i had gearbox problems on 2nd race so i decided to get the 5th engine (MGU-K MGU-H ICE TC EC etc...) and i started from 20th.(Ferrarri is pretty fast) I managed to work my way up on lap 10 to 10th place and on lap 17 i was 4th.... just a few laps before stops Vettel collided with hamilton and i moved up to 2nd.... that's where i finished and now i have a brand new engine.
