The main difference is that Fernbus takes plus in a 1:10 scale (I think) Germany and Austria (if you have that DLC) for a coach travel bus, where Bus Sim 18 takes place in a fictional city setting for city bus driving.
I mean sure, Fernbus kinda looks a bit prettier, but both games use the same engine, in this case Unreal Engine 4, though the AI tends to gridlock itself massively in the game at times. That being said, Bus Sim 18's AI isn't any better either...
Steam has a refund policy thanks to what Australia pulled, so you can try the game out for a couple hours and get a refund if you don't like it. The automated system is below 2 hours and 2 weeks, but if you can magically get to a person at Valve, they sometimes can give a little bit of leniency at times in certain circumstances. Basically, don't take my word for it or anything, I'm only sharing a very small snippet of what I went through before I dumped the game eventually in it's entirety.
But it is a hard pick, they are both good games.
The ai in bus simulator, gives you way no matter what, what i think are kind of dumb, and the ai in Fernbus can get grin locked.
I think the roads in Bus simulator are to wide. There are only a few in the center of town, thats okay.
But as i said people are different. You like Bus Sim Physics better, so be it, i am not trying to convince you of any thing. I am just saying what i like better.
Graphics and physics in Fernbus are a thousand miles ahead!
Fernbus graphics looks so real that you almost forget this is a game while playing. Immersion is total. When you are doing a ride in fernbus, its graphics makes you feel you are travelling around Europe.
Bus 18 simulator is not called a simulator for its physics at all. There is no physics in this game. Driving a bus in Bus sim 18 has no comparison. It's a good game but it is not a bus driving simulator. Not at all. This game simulates the job of driving a city bus, that's it. There is no weight in Bus sim 18 ! Your bus seems to have the same weight than a feather. Breaking, curves, hills and speeds are not affected by this element.
Also, the bus direction is so light that it makes no sense too. Controls in Bus sim 18 does not reflect a bus control. Driving in Fernbus, you feel it!
Unfortunately, for its graphics and physics, Bus sim 18 does not come close to Fernbus
How can you say "you prefer" Bus sim 18 when you do not have and tried Fernbus? You do not feel the controls in the simulator on a Youtube video...
As said, Fernbus is a driving simulator. Bus sim 18 is NOT at all. There is No physics in that one. No weather effects on driving. No weight on bus controls.
Bus sim 18 is strictly a game where you do a bus driver job. In Fernbus, you are not only doing a bus driver job, you have to drive the bus with its real effects too.
Roads under bad weather are also affected. Trafic (NPCs) is affected by the weather too.
Euro trucks - American trucks and Fernbus are falling in the same category... they are simulators... Not Bus sim 18.
Bus sim 18 is weightless and mechanical.
I'm not saying Bus sim 18 is a bad game... but it's definately not a "bus driving simulator". Bus sim18 is More a bus game with management. There is a big difference.
For those who wants a bus driving simulator... go for Fernbus!
Totally agree with you. I just play ETS, ATS and Tourist Bus. I do not play anymore to Bus Simulator 21... Too arcade and boring.
