There did say if you re bind it should be more smooth have not try that yet bud maby it works

The steering resets itself every time your take you finger off the left stick so it is impossible to corner smoothly. It's a shocking oversight really.

Is that not on every game where you drive in with a xbox controler

That's not how it works on ATS and ETS2 or any other driving game because the steering mimics a real life wheel where if you take your finger off the stick, the wheel retains its position. On BS18 the steering resets so you either oversteer or keep tapping the stick every time it resets to guide the bus round the bend.

The gamepad is poorly optimised here just like on Fernbus and OMSI. Only SCS Software truly understand how to implement proper physics.

Ow now I understand did not now that. Beacus this the first time that I use a xbox controler on a simulator game like this.

You should try American Truck Simulator and Euro Truck Simulator - both games have demos available on their respective store pages. You can see the difference in how those work when compared to this game. This could be a really decent game if the controls were better implemented but for me, it just feels like you're battling the bus around the bends and it feels too lightweight also.

It's exactly the same with the Steam controller. Nice sim, but completely unplayable with the current lack of gamepad settings. Hell - I don't even know how people play this using K&M!

Good evening everyone,

just a quick update on the current controller steering issues:
The devs are already working on a controller extension which will allow the player to adjust the sensitivity settings of the controller input.

We hope that we can provide you this tweak during the next week and that it will offer you a much better gaming experience when playing with a controller. :-)

Best regards,
Tim

Interesting.. but we need another thing, not just sensivity. We need the steering wheel centering system like ETS\ATS.

Please feel free to share all your needs and wishes regarding further controller improvements.

Which specific ETS/ATS controller features do you would like to see in BS18?
mr_pele_rocco Jun 15, 2018 @ 11:59pm
It's not just ETS or ATS, it's driving games in general that use analogue sticks to steer. As it stands, there's no incremental movement, it's just full left or right when moving the stick. When the stick is released it centres far too quickly.
Have the devs never played a driving game when using a gamepad?
In a Simulator, you should be able to make the finest movements using an analogue stick, instead it's just replacing pressing a key.
You guys must know what we're talking about here, surely?

i just turned down the force feedback to 50 and its smooth as you like

We really appreciate your feedback and support because it helps us to understand your needs and to focus on the important issues while working on upcoming improvements.

Over the last weeks and months, we did a lot of in- and external testing to learn which parts of the game feel good and which parts need further improvements. We also started a closed beta phase with more than 200 players and we used their feedback to tweak and polish the game while working on the gold master.
Strangely enough the controller topic wasn't a big issue in the tester's feedback, while many players asked for adjustments in physics as well as additional comfort features (which we both added among other things in the end).

We are sorry for your inconvenience, but I can assure you that it's very important for us to keep our community happy and that we will take care of your problems as best and as fast as possible.

That's why we really appreciate all of your feedback and of course your constructive criticism too.

Yep, sensititivity isn't really the problem - it's the actual steering functionality itself. Strange that not one of the 200 people (YouTuber's mostly) highlighted this as an issue when it's the most critical flaw imaginable for a driving game. Took me 30 seconds of play to discover this as a major issue so whoever tested this either ignored it or didn't try the game using a pad at all.

We are on it :-) Thanks for the input, really appreciate it!
If all goes well, with the next update there will be a "relative" steering mode in addition to the current "absolute" one!
maxmekker Jun 18, 2018 @ 9:11am
BS18 only has direct steering with controller and not adaptive steering. Hope they add adaptive soon as it will make steering more smooth
