Steam has a refund policy. If it doesnt' run well you can always get a refund as long as you dont go over 2 hours.

Very few games have demos anymore.

Yes, you can choose if you want it refunded on the original source (credit card, paypal, other things) or if you want it in your steam balance

Use the Steam refund policy if you can't run the game properly.

yes you have option to refund the original source be it credit card, paypal, whatever to a credit on your Steam account.
