Multiplayer not Working

Me and my friend attempted to do multiplayer this evening, which we had going a few days before, and it was working fine.

When we went to start multiplayer, my friend started his company. I launched the game and it never said "Multiplayer session running" or whatever it used to say. I left the company and got invited through steam, and it still didn't work. However, on his screen it showed me as being apart of his company and gave him an option to start a coop drive. But, for me, it acted like singleplayer. Showed my friend as offline and only gave me the Start Drive option. Restarted steam, the game, tried forcing some sort of update through steam, and nothing worked.

I saw there was a 2gb update on Monday that I never remember updating to. My friend updated his game today. I can't force the update in case I didn't get it because validating the game files comes up with no errors.

Any help would be appreciated because we would like to get back to enjoying this game again.

It probably won't work to play with an updated and an unupdated version of the game. Sorry to say that. But in the end all updates are intended to improve upon the game's features and bugs so it's no harm anyway.

I have resintalled the game to make sure that I had the latest version, and I am still having the same issue.
