Denuvo, really?
Yes, I'll make the obligatory post about it.

I'm no fan of DRM, and quite frankly am anti-DRM because it does nothing to "protect" game sales. But seriously? Does it have to have DRM? I know its not my decision or anything but I guess this games value just immediately tanked and I'll be waiting for a 50% off sale next year I guess.

I was already mildly skeptical anyway for this game because of the switch to Unreal Engine 4; its not a good engine to use for driving games. It just doesn't appear to have what it needs for good physics, and just overall doesn't feel right. I mean, Unity did fine for Bus Sim 16, so I never understood the switch when I first heard about it. Last game didn't even have DRM anyway and I'm sure it did decently well. I mean for what its worth, it wasn't that bad of a game and was certainly better than the unoptimized "game" that was Fernbus and that is using UE4 currently.

I may be being nitpicky, but so long as Denuvo remains in the game, I won't buy it at full asking price and will instead wait for it to go cheap. Though if it does get removed in the future, I'll be more than happy to open my wallet up for it for whatever asking price.

You can always try the game first and refund it if doesn't satisfy you. Just because a game is built on any particular game engine doesn't mean that every aspect of it is cookie cut as you imagine.

I've played many a game that used Unreal, and though this is largely dependent on the developer, I have found that Unreal has generally been unfit for any driving game that I've seen so far. (don't ask me which games, because frankly I honestly don't recall considering I've played upwards of 400 different games in my lifetime so far)

Either way, Denuvo is essentially a parasite of a DRM solution. Or rather a problem really... Most of the crap about it is usually not true (as in the link above, some of it is true, others are not, a couple is only a mixed bag), but seeing as the devs did choose to use it in this case... Simply purchasing and refunding doesn't work. Especially since Valve continues to have semi-anti-consumer refund policies. (Its only partially anti-consumer - 2 hours is not enough time to demo a game anyway in large cases. Taking a cue from SCS Software with a proper demo is the best way to go about it with just enough content to try the game, but doesn't lock you. I'm not wasting money to demo a game when the whole concept of demos is being forgotten)

Denuvo doesn't really fit in games using the Unity Engine, that's maybe why they switched to Unreal Engine.

At this point, games are using Denuvo just to get some publicity.

- Never heard of this.
- Never thought there should be something like this.
- I wouldn't even pirate this.
- Let it have Denuvo :)

There can't be worse than unity, look at bus sim 16. UE4 is suitable for driving games, the new assetto corsa will run on UE4.
But i don't get why developers are wasting money on denuvo instead of using that money to make a better product? We all know that denuvo doesn't help these days.

Im annoyed by denuvo too, but please GIVE US AT LEAST A DEMO SO WE CAN DECIDE IF IS WORTH OR NO, i think the 2 hours that steam gives is too few taking in consideration you on most games waste 1 hour doing nothing or knowing the basics, also the week + for the refund to be effective is long enought to not taking the risk

Waste of cash that could have went into making the game better..

You realize that using denuvo makes it more time consuming to crack the game -> less people encouraged to pirate the game -> more money to developer.

Stating that it is a waste of cash is nonsense. If you want a game you should get a job and pay for it. Not expect that years of work, skill and effort put into a game should basically be released for free.

However, the rushing from a publisher onto an unpolished game to save time is worse for said game than DRM's.

If its the same denuvo used on recent releases it can be cracked very quick if they want to. and i dont see how waiting from some days to a month for the game to be available for free will make pirates pay.

And some times its just such a pain for people who paid for it, when i moved to a new house i had no internet for a few days and i could not play any of my bought single player games that use Denuvo.

I really dont think its well spent money and time for a super DRM that will maybe keep people from stealing the game for some days.

Denuvo doesn't bother or worry me in the slightest. Everybody getting all hyped up and jumping on the bandwagon getting feisty over it. I mean really, come on!! If it bothers you that much then don't by a game that has it. Simple really.

OMG!!! You really couldn't wait a few days before you got the Internet connected which is one of your gripes about Denuvo! Seriously, there's plenty of other great things to do in life. :steamhappy:

This. UE4 is million years light better than Unity, IF the developers know how to properly push it to its potential, since Unity is way more easy to work with. To the driving games issue, it doesn't really hurt on UE4 like it did on previous Unreal engines.

Concerning the Denuvo, i really don't see the point on wasting money with it for a game of this "size". It only compensates on AAA games...
