Is there local coop?
The game looks cool, and I'm looking for more local cooperative games.

Hi Chaotic Zombie,

Thanks for the question (and your kind words!). Unfortunately, Outbreak only supports online co-op right now. I've had other community members request local co-op and it's definitely in the back of my mind. No promises (or ETA), but it may come along a few months down the road if I can find time after the current feature and port roadmaps.

Please let me know if you have any additional questions! :steamhappy:

OK, thanks!

I'd like to second this and say I probably would've bought the game immediately if it had local co-op. Don't have much time for single-player games at the moment and I'm not a big fan of on-line co-op really. But I'm really interested in this game and plan to pick it up eventually anyway. I'm playing Resident Evil Outbreak right now and this game looks like a solid successor to that design ideology.

This Outbreak or RE Outbreak? I don't have this game yet but when I do, I'll decide do I want to bother finding someone to play with me on-line. I may try to trick it into thinking my PC is two PCs, grab a second copy, and play with my girlfriend.

As for RE Outbreak, my girlfriend says that babysitting the last AI partner would probably drive her mad, so she's just watched me play it off-line (PAL version didn't have on-line anyway). However, when I start RE Outbreak File #2, I may try to go on-line to play it with my girlfriend (in the same room with me).

Local co-op should be standard in multiplayer games nowadays especially with modern hardware and bigger screens. If you can do it online, why not local? I'd understand if it's the other way around. Always instant buy if there's local co-op.

Local coop would make this game stand out among all the others like this. Its too bad it was never implemented. There are a billion single player games but every now and then someone figures out that local coop games remain popular for many years. Simply because a real experience with someone next to you playing will actually be remembered. Make this local coop and it will reap profits for the long haul.

So true. I bought this game but never even launched it cos I just don't really feel like playing with anyone but my girlfriend. That's the person I play games with. Shame. Could have been lots of fun. It's hard to find games that even do split-screen nowadays, let alone good ones. Oh well.

I appreciate folks continuing to share the interest for local co-op here. Although I still don't have any direct plans, I did recently patch this game with a bunch of QoL fixes and improvements. It's been a long time since I've deeply looked at the original code here, but once I'm through some of my current project work I'm likely going to swing back around and see if or how this could possibly be done with modifying as little of the code as possible. Don't expect anything anytime soon.

To answer another question above - unfortunately the online code would be completely separate from something like supporting split-screen co-op. I doubt much of that could be re-used. But this game has bot support which in many ways is just another real player being fed automated commands so maybe I could wire something up with that somehow.

It's good food for thought. I appreciate folks continuing to share feedback! :)

That'd be brilliant stuff altogether. We'd love that. Likewise, if your 3D stuff ever got similar treatment, we'd grab it immediately. Thanks for being honest. Best of luck either way.

Bit of a necro here but for anyone reading this now, yes he did get split-screen co-op worked in :)

Yes, apologies for not replying. Outbreak, Outbreak: The New Nightmare and Outbreak: Epidemic support local co-op on ALL platforms now, including Steam. :)
