How do you change Observer's graphic setting without having the run the game?

Ever since I changed my graphic setting to "High," my game crashes right after the Observer title card.

I suspect my MacBook can't run the game on "High," so it crashes. How do I change the setting without having the run the game?

I tried uninstalling and reinstalling on Steam twice, without any help.

Just booted it up on my macbook pro. 10.13, GPU: Radeon 460 Pro.

I can't seem to see the Resolution the game is running at OR even change it. Clicking on Resolution does not show anything different. I believe the game is running at the native resolution and as you can guess thats a no no. Would like to drop it to around 1080p.

Apart from that, good port. Will wait for fix though.

I have same problem! I changed it to "High", and it crashes. I can't run this game anymore. Can devs help us?

I suspect you might have to delete your config data so that the next time you launch, the game will return to its default settings.

Give a shout to our support line[support.aspyr.com] and they can help you look into things.

I have the same problem - I changed the settings from low to normal, and ever since the game crashes and doesn't get to the title screen anymore.

Hi, for some reason I cannot use the controller with this game. Even with just a default WASD template. I believe it's because when you launch the app from big screen mode, it goes to this dumb splash screen for Aspyr. Is there a fix for this?!

For the startup errors, shoot a ticket to support.aspyr.com, and we'll troubleshoot with you from there.

I installed observer on Steam on MacOs High Sierra v10.13.2. However, when I launch the game, I get the companies' logos and then the window switches to black and nothing happens (no sound all the time). Do you know what might be wrong?

Just got the game and immediately ran into the "crash on launch" issue on my 2016 Macbook Pro because I tried to change the detail level to HIGH after the first launch.

Here's what I did to restore the initial configuration after trying to set the detail to HIGH:

1. Made sure The Observer wasn't running.

2. Held the "alt / command" key while opening the "GO" dropdown of Finder (to show the hidden Mac Library Files) then went to "Library".

***Be careful...deleting the wrong stuff in here can make your Mac very unhappy!***

3. Saw an "Application Support" folder, opened that up and saw an "Epic" folder. Opened that up and saw an "Epic Games" folder which contained a "TheObserver" folder which contained a "Saved" folder which contained a "SaveGames" folder.

4. Inside the "SaveGames" folder there was a folder labeled as a bunch of numbers like "7623546854589734" which had a "PlayerPreferences.sav" file in it.

5. In my case I trashed the "PlayerPreferences.sav" file, emptied the trash and TA-DA the next time I ran The Observer from Steam it ran just like the first time after I installed it, before I tried to change the detail to HIGH.

The Aspyr team wasn't kidding when they said Intel cards aren't supported in the top comment. If you have an Intel video card (even a newer one like me) you can't run The Observer in any video mode besides "LOW" without crashing the .app and running into this issue...just a heads up.

So far I've been able to play through the game in LOW mode...fingers crossed.

Hope this helps you folks!

I Need help to configure my PS4 DualShock controller with my MacBook Pro 15" for this game.

The game ran just fine before I tried to configure the PS4 controller.

MacBook Pro 15" with Touch Bar Thunderbolt 3 (4 usb-c ports)
macOS High Sierra version 10.13.4
2.9 Ghz Intel Core i7
16 GB 2133 Mhz LPDDR3 Ram
Radeon Pro 560 4096 MB + intel HD Graphics 630 1536 MB Ram
* Configured to not allow automatic graphics card switching, so the Radeon Pro is always used *

-- my problem

First try this worked, but A, B, X, Y didn't register in my Playstation brain used to X, Circle, Triangle, Square, and the triggers....

1) I paired my PS4 DualShock controller to my MBP and launched Steam.
2) New to Steam on macOS, tried to configure PS4, but Steam didn't see it, so I believe it was a generic setting. I don't recall clicking the controller icon in Steam to launch Big ?? mode. However I was able to play (WooHoo cool game, and Bluetooth controller on MBP) this great game!

This worked as stated above, It just did not show the PS4 controller. I saw either the Steam game controller or what I assume was an X-box controller.

After googling around, I found information about setting up the PS4 DualShock inside of Steam. I did this, and for this game there was a configuration file that said WORKS BEST WITH NO MAPPING. I loaded that and clicked the controller icon inside of Steam to go into that Big ??? Mode and launched the game.

The controller didn't work at all to do anything. The TrackPad would make me look around, but accessing the menu's via the keyboard was almost impossible. In non full screen mode, the pointer would appear to go behind the application and I struggled to use the arrow keys to access the menu. At some point I had to Command Key + Q to quit Steam.

Thanks in advance for any help with the correct setup for a MBP + PS4 DualShock controller.

This is the exact problem I am receiving. Before that, I was running the game fine although it crashed quite a few times as well. My processor is 2.3 but the minimum is 3.4; I have no idea how I was even able to run this game in the first place.
