Ok, now that was really messed up (Pieta sidequest also spoilers)
So basically this is what happens in the sidequest. Don't read if you don't want to be spoiled.
You talk to this little girl in room 113, Paulina. She has a split personality, and tells you the code to enter room 114. In 114 you find this old woman, Pieta, hooked up to a machine, and her computer. In the computer you find some conversations and a really effed up webpage from what is obviously a child trafficking website (icon is a kid in a shopping cart so not even that subtle). Anyway through the brain hacking you figure out that the old woman, Pieta, purchased the girl off the website, and it appears the girl is imprisoned in room 113 somehow and the two are hooked through the machine. Pieta has an incurable disease and it's obvious she did it because she wanted to transfer her consciousness to a new body (SOMA style).
Their brains are merging now, but something is wrong. After the brain hacking you have a choice, either reboot the machine (killing both) or restoring the connection (basically granting Pieta's wish).

Here I split my save because I wasn't really ok with either choices and wanted to try both. If you reset the connection, nothing happens basically, because they both die. (cop out by the writers)

If you restore the connection, the door to 113 opens and inside you find nothing at all, except for a toy on the floor that if scanned says that it has unusual brain activity. This means the girl was never real, it was just a simulation inside this toy (mega cop out by the writers).

So yeah, no matter how you look at it, this story is totally messed up. The story itself, and how the writers didn't have the balls to go all in with a really dark and unsettling story and eventually resorted to a dumb ass copout.

Actually, that's probably not what happened. If you check outher threads about this on the forums, someone pointed out that most likely she took over the body and left the apartment. That would explain the open door for one.

Also, as far as messed up goes, don't read the "Dove club" page on her computer unless you want to be utterly disgusted... kinda makes you wanna nuke the whole district...

I did read the dove club and commented it on my original post. Anyway, the apartment was empty, no way a lil girl could have been holed up in there. Also where did she go, the apartment was locked down. Doesn't make any sense at all unless you think the whole thing was simulated into the toy.

It was locked down before you connected to Pieta, but if you reconnected the system the doors will be open. Someone opened them, and it wasn't you or Pieta.
